Re: Flashforge Creator Pro - very unplanned purchase

I wired up a layer fan to mine too (turbo fan option). I think I used the fan once and took it off. Anyway, I soldered in a JST connector so I can easily install or remove it.

Re: Flashforge Creator Pro - very unplanned purchase

Yup. The S3D guys do a pretty good job at coming up with default profiles. I always start there first. Keep an eye on filament diameter. Not sure what I have set on my profiles. I print with Filament Central white most often and that stuff is more like 1.73-1.75mm.

Re: Flashforge Creator Pro - very unplanned purchase

Here are my default profiles for ABS and PLA. I usually get started there and tweak a few things depending on the part. Bed prep: Usually just hairspray. I rarely use purple stick elmers unless is a very big part. Most of the time I print PLA. As for ABS, The enclosed build chamber really works well ...

Re: Flashforge Creator Pro - very unplanned purchase

I forgot to mention that I print on 1/8" thick boro glass. McMaster has these 9x6 plate's (http://www.mcmaster.com/#8476k74/=yjqjl1). I let my parts cool down a bit before trying to pop them off of the glass. You'll also need a shim for the glass. 3mm for 1/8" glass (https://www.thingiverse.com ...

Re: Flashforge Creator Pro - very unplanned purchase

You got a hell of a deal on the one of the best printers on the market. I own a Creator Pro and a Creator Dual (Woody). As for my Creator Pro, I haven't leveled the bed since last March and every one of my prints has been outstanding. Combine that with S3D and you'll start to get cocky. ;) Here's my ...

Re: 3d pdf files?

That's the drawback with 3D PDFs. It's Adobe's technology which means that most other readers cannot display them. If someone has Adobe Reader installed (most do) then you're good to go.

I've been making 3d pdfs for several years. I use SimLab Soft Composer. However, I have been slowly moving in the WebGL direction lately.

Re: Multi-Filament Joiner

Pull one piece thru the cylinder and expose just the tip. Light it and pull the filament half way down. Immediately push a cold piece into the hole and apply pressure to both pieces. Hold it for a few seconds and pull it thru the cylinder. Takes a little practice but you'll get thing of it.

Re: Multi-Filament Joiner

I built a filament joiner last year out of an aluminum rod with a .063 hole in it. Just like mhackney, use a lighter to heat and fuse together.

Re: Tired of unsuccessfully calibrating this thing - please

This particular issue is the reason why I sold my Rostock. In the beginning it took me quite a while to get my towers dialed in. In the end I could do it as quickly as 5-10 minutes...BUT I used a dial indicator which I thought was much faster. Still I ran my head down an extra .001" on the very ...

3DXTECH Filament

Was doing some research on USA based filament makers. I turned up 3DXTECH (http://www.3dxtech.com) which are out of Wyoming, MI...just a few hours away from me. Judging by the looks of their filament spools, it looks suspiciously like the SeeMeCNC filament that I have. Is it the same stuff? I don't ...

Alright, thanks KAS. I was thinking about getting another laptop to for use with cnc work. I've seen the See Me guys use a tablet but I've never really paid attention to what they were doing with it. Try the new Onshape. Free and nothing to install...and nothing to update. It's still in beta but you can model parts and assy's. I've been using it on and off for a couple of weeks.

Re: Horizontal radius calibration

Great question. I had a process down that took me 5-10 minutes to get my towers adjusted. It required a dial indicator and a final tweak of the horizontal radius. I could get things within .001" from center to all 3 towers. What got me fed up with it all is that I had to do this often...about every ...
