Re: tragedy on a 33hr print... lol
How about a micro-switch with a roller mounted on an angle bracket where the filament passes through the hole on the top plate? closed==OK, open==no filament, pause the print. Connect it to X (min) endstop, modify the firmware to PAUSE when the switch is open i.e. no filament. Hey I've got a few ...

electronics project box
I'm designing a few enclosures for an electronics project; a wireless track (velodrome) timer system. It consists of two gates which are wirelessly connected, and uses a laser trip to start and stop the timer. Final results are displayed on an 8 digit LED display and also printed on a small thermal ...

Re: hagemeyer's build Rostock Max v2
Bought this one, same problem. I preheat for abs. Then one it's heated, I insert card and select a small file. Print starts, but stops before the brim is even finished. Slicing is done with cura.

Plater - new open source placing tool
I just checked out Plater, a free open source program for optimal placement of n items on your build place. Looks very promising for combining STL files. My initial tests were pretty positive- definately a worthwhile tool for your toolbox. https://github.com/RobotsWar/Plater

Re: Extruded wires question...
Crap- just discovered the issue.
I used 18" of 22 awg for the heated bed, that's why the extruder wires are long and hotend wire short. Time to buy some new wire and pull longer ones....
