Re: Was shipped a convex-shaped heat bed. Same with the replacement
Do you have a reliable reference for flat or is this analysis based on how the effector is tracking across the bed? Have you calibrated horizontal radius? Yes. I have a reliable reference for "flat". A 12" metal straight edged ruler that is "flat" as well as two 12" framing squares which are ...

Re: Was shipped a convex-shaped heat bed. Same with the replacement
Search the old posts, but the convex bed is generally a result of not letting the bed float a bit. The screws holding the bed need to allow it to float just a bit. The simplest thing to do is to loosen the bed screws, bring the bed up to temperature and then just tighten until they don't move. You ...

Re: Was shipped a convex-shaped heat bed. Same with the replacement
By heat bed, do you mean just the black Onyx PCB, or do you mean the glass disc that's clamped to it? My bad for not checking my spelling...Sorry about that. Heat(ed) bed = the Onyx, not the glass build plate. This seems to be the singular instance where having "ed" is beneficial. :o I have some ...

Well, if by a "few" you mean 15-20 it's not the case.Mac The Knife wrote:If it doesn't flatten out when you clamp the glass plate into place, I'm sure a few heat cycles will do the trick.

Was shipped a convex-shaped heat bed. Same with the replacement
I received a convex-shaped heat bed with my RoMax V2 a couple years ago. (I never got around to building it until last month because I have 4 other printers that are working fine.) My thought was, "Fine. That's on me for not examining it when it arrived and was in warranty". I'll just buy a ...

Re: Warped Onyx beds
After waiting nearly 2 years to build my V2 kit I completed it last Thursday. I have 4 other printers so I never felt the need to assemble this one. Now that I have completed it I discovered I, too, have a badly warped Onyx. There's a dome at least 1.2mm in the center when cold and it gets even ...

Re: Loud Rambo Fan? Use this!
Wow, that is a sweet looking system! I had not heard of Noctua before, but I am going to use them from now on. Thanks. The Noctuas are great fans but they are ugly. They are the reason I bought a 3D printer in the first place, lol My very first "non-test" print on my Rep2 was a cover for them with ...

Noctua = Computer porn.
They're the only fans I purchase in lots of 20 at a pop, lol. There are 4 additional fans in that build (my backup gaming rig) and, even with all those fans installed, a DVD spinning up is the loudest sound in that system

Re: Rostock Max V3 - requests, suggestions, etc.
I know I'm probably in the minority but if I could have any single improvement, I would chose to re-design the kit to have fewer parts. My fingers were cracked and bleeding by the time i was done removing the protective tape from the melamine parts when I started my build a few weeks ago. It would ...

Re: Best PLA & ABS for Rostock Max V2?
I finally received the PLA filament I purchased through Massdrop. It was Monoprice-branded and one of the two spools came in an unsealed bag with no desiccant while the other came in a Monoprice box in a sealed bag with a desiccant pack... I haven't tried them out yet because I don't have anything I ...

Re: Filament spool bearing hubs
Today is "show us your spool holder" day. With Rambo overheating came clunking and crappy prints. Even though I'm now running a fan over the Rambo and this problem has gone away, I'm jittery about clunking noises coming from the printer. And so the crappy spool holder arm had to go: the spool would ...

Re: Part splits in the middle of printing
You can print ABS at 250+ without issue, it turns black if you print it too hot, even 230 is cold for ABS. ok so what about the burning smell and visible smoke coming from the tip of the extruder?? is that normal? I print ABS at 233°C-235°C with a Heated Bed at 95°C-100°C (and PLA at 230°C on my Rep ...

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!
sigh all you want, but when theres a problem that needs to be fixed, it needs to be done right away, not going to let people wait just for that... its not like a huge thing that needs to be in depth, its just an *optional* led for the hotend... so no, they can still follow the manual and be fine ...

Re: Best PLA & ABS for Rostock Max V2?
I use a Replicator 2, a Creator X, and I also have a Rostock Max V2. I get 99% of all my filament from Toy Builder's Lab (They go by the name of "Prototype Supply" on Amazon) I like it much better than the factory MBI-supplied filament and the filament supplied by the Flash Forge people. I did get ...

That's why the assembly manuals tell you NOT to solder the resistor connections. Now it makes sense. Everyone does read the manual, right? I only ever read the manual if I can't figure out the pretty pictures. So...I anticipate making a repost of this thread at some point in the distant future if I ...

Re: Makerbot 5th Generation: Slop and Wiggle
I haven't regretted my purchase of a MBI product for a nanosecond. (I have a Replicator 2) Personally, I wouldn't purchase a 5th Gen. Not because of anything in the video, or this thread, but because it has a lot of features I don't need. Camera? I already have 2 options for recording or streaming ...

Re: Support Material Buckling on Large Prints
Interesting. Are you talking about - increasing the density of the fill pattern (closer lines in fill pattern) or - increasing the thickness of each fill line I suspect that it's happening on the right hand side because of how the support structure is laid out. It's almost like there's a certain ...

Re: Support Material Buckling on Large Prints
I've seen that behavior on my FFCreator X several times and I increased the density (very slightly) of the layout of support material in my slicer program which seems to eliminate or greatly reduce the amount of collapsing I see. I haven't played around with the slicer settings for my Rostock Max V2 ...

Re: Auto-Calibration - $100 Bounty and Bragging Rights
Let's say we set a standard that's fit for aeronautics: More points on the plane = better geometry or map of the bed surface. Having the ability to set the number of points during what I would call Bed Surface Geometry or a "Bed Surface Map" would be great! (This is based on the assumption that ...

Well this is supposed to be a flat bottom box. But this ABS has different plans. Yikes. Any tips? This was printed on a freshly cleaned glass, with fresh hairspray all over. The bed temp was 90 and didn't start to curl until the bottom was done and the sides of the box had begun. 4mm bottom.. I ...
