Re: Gaps between perimeter loops
Thanks Gene, in the video I linked above I show the amount of tension on each belt by pulling outwards on it. Does that look too tight? How much do other users of the "Easily adjustable belt tensioners" tighten down the screws? I realized that the belt noise is due to the Astrosyn dampers allowing ...

Gaps between perimeter loops
I'm noticing that only in certain directions, there are gaps between concentric perimeter loops. i.e. lines along the Y-axis. Photos: http://imgur.com/a/pRT6o Other print defects: - nut pockets are not properly shaped hexagons. They are longer in some directions than others. - layer alignment is off ...

Re: Successful calibration with 626Pilot Smoothieware + FSRs
It should be fine; the FSRs will sense slight pressure anywhere on the plate.

Yes, forrie is right!
You can find large foamcore board at some art/theater supply stores or signage shops. They come in 4'x8' sheets at the largest. Also heard that some lumberyards carry this stuff.

Foamcore box, exhaust duct, extruder dampening, LEDs
Here's something I did a while back for my Rostock MAX v2. I wanted a simple enclosure that would primarily serve to ventilate fumes out of the apartment. I also needed to be able to service the printer and see what was going on inside. I ended up making a box out of 3/16" foamcore board. Air is ...

Successful calibration with 626Pilot Smoothieware + FSRs!
Since I first built my RMAXv2 last July, I was unable to ever achieve a usable calibration that allowed a decent first layer on the full extent of the bed. There would always be areas between the towers that were so close to the bed that no plastic would extrude, and other areas that the plastic ...

Re: Bowden tube and wires getting stuck
On a related note, the layer fan crashes into the binder clips when printing the first layers near the edge of the plate! Any remedy for this besides removing the fan?

Re: Installing dampers -- disassembly required?
I managed to get them installed without disassembly, it took about two hours but only because I messed up the first time and forgot to offset the drive pulleys before re-mounting the steppers... It's quite a challenge to use the little access holes to remove/remount steppers (and particularly to add ...

Bowden tube and wires getting stuck
Twice when I've tried to print over a moderately big area of my build platform, the bundle of wires and bowden tube coming down from the top has gotten stuck on nuts. The steppers thus skip steps with a grinding noise and the job is ruined. Has anyone else had this problem? What's the proper length ...

Re: Stepper motor colors
Figured it out. I connected them (from L to R on the Rambo, with the motor connectors on the bottom of the board): Blue, Yellow, Green, Red. If the connector is reversed the motor simply reverses direction. I also mapped the colors to the extruder extension cable as: Motor - Extension Blue - White ...

Stepper motor colors
The kit I received has motor colors red, green, yellow, blue, and the connectors are non-polarized. How do I hook these up to the Rambo?

Installing dampers -- disassembly required?
I've already put most of the MAX v2 together and my astrosyn dampers are coming soon. How much disassembly is required to install these dampers? I imagine I'll have to take off the drive belts, remove the entire top section along with the aluminum extrusions, remove the hot bed(? to avoid flexing it ...

Re: Assembly manual discussion thread!
About 8 hours into my build now. Thanks Geneb for the awesome documentation! Just a few comments: - It wasn't clear how far I needed to insert the T-nuts for the Onyx mounting. I didn't put them in far enough initially for the (short) #4-40 Onyx screws to reach, and it was a pain to press them in ...
