Re: This machine was meant for mods.
I don’t see an advantage to using a "weld" style over the sintered powder method of additive metal printing other than the availability of cheap Mig type welding machines. I am by no means an expert welder but I am comfortable in the use of Mig, Tig and arc welding, at least at a hobbyist/shade tree ...

So I made a little mistake
I managed to install the top plate upside down; if I install the extruder on the left side then the hole for the filament will be behind the mounting bracket. It looks like I have three choices, drill a new hole for the filament on the left side, flip the extruder around in the mounting bracket and ...

Re: Temperature control questions
soooooo......the only reason to attempt then is because I can't figure out any other constructive way to blow $150. I should of known better, I made my own RTD probe for a fermentation vessel.......step #1 insert thermistor into metal tube.......I just reread your tutorial on calibrating, and after ...

Temperature control questions
Is it required for the Rambo to control the temp of the bed and hot end? It seems that a lot more accurate temp control could be had by using a separate PID and RTD sensor to control the temps. From reading I noticed that some people were using a separate power supply controlled by an SSR to heat ...

Re: Power supply wiring questian
Nope didn't get that at all, just explaining my thinking on why I didn't swap for a modular PSU. I am finding that these things can quickly nickle and dime you to death..........just like any other hobby. Plus the inherent inability to leave well enough alone. :D When It finally came down to it, it ...

Re: Power supply wiring questian
I found a few reviews of the supplied power supply and all said it was decent and dependable power supply. I plan on building a 24 volt power supply out of a couple of server PSUs to power my heat bed here in the future, so I didn't see any real need to replace it. The wires are pretty easy to ...

Re: New shower head for my coffee maker
I have used these guys a lot in the past for casting supplies http://www.smooth-on.com/. I know they offer resins for casting aquarium decorations which need to be more than just food safe. Or you could trade in the coffee boiler and have a fresh cup when ever you want it http://www.keurig.com/

Power supply wiring questian
Other than the 6 12V +, 7 ground and one green wire, will I be needing any of the other wires? I plan on un-soldering the wires I don't need from the power supply board. And while I have it opened up, replace four of the 12v and four of the ground with single pieces of 8 gauge wire. I converted a ...

Re: Page 132, of Assembly Manual is wrong.
geneb I would just like to thank you for such a wonderful manual. I printed out three, one for quick reference, one to sit next to the "thinker" in the bathroom and one for my son. My nine year old son has been shlepping the 279 page monster to school so he can read it at recess. Not sure if you got ...

Re: Hello from the High Desert
Thank you for the welcomes! Tracker says it will be here Tuesday, all the accessories have been trickling in over the last week, heat spreader, better Rambo fan, connecters etc. The waits been driving my son nuts! He was the real catalyst for my purchase. He noticed me checking out printers on the ...

Hello from the High Desert
I just took the plunge and ordered a R Max 2, after lurking and reading up here for the last couple of weeks I figured it was about time. This forum is amazing, I couldn't find another printer with this level of support and community. If nothing else the wealth of information here makes the R Max a ...

Re: moving the electronics outside the base
It doesn’t sound like there would be much need to move the controller if it's that easy to access it. Air filters on power supplies actually make it worse; they clog up quicker and choke off the air to the fan. It would probably be easier to externally mount it so that I can just blow it out every f ...

moving the electronics outside the base
I am currently considering an R max 2, one of my concerns about the printer is having the electronics in the base, I understand that some heat from the print bed radiates down into the base. I also understand that ample airflow is provided by fans to cool the controller. My concern is I live in the ...
