Hockey Team Handouts
I based this on the PlunderBuss Pete Pirate (https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:144775) and then added the bases I modeled in Solidworks. Sharpie on the letters works great. The big pirate is about 8" tall and took about 8 hours. The Seniors like these reminders of their Varsity Hockey years. All PLA ...

Re: Make Magazine 2015 printer tests...
I've been trying to print the various test models from Make Magazine. They are not printing as well as I'd like and I'd like to see what others are getting. See the image below for the quality. It's not what some of the other printers were getting and I'm thinking its some combination of settings ...

Re: Zamboni Bobble head for hockey team
I did a mix of single and up to 4 of the Zamboni's at once. The top was the base and the open bottom was up. No supports. I tweaked the design so I didn't need them. For the wheels, I was finally able to print a bunch at a time.

Zamboni Bobble head for hockey team
I designed a bobble-head for my hockey team the Green Machine. Lots of dead ends and manufacturing 'learning'. Getting the spring rate in the wheels so they would bend and not break during insertion. Modeled in Solidworks and then printed on my Rostock Max V2. About an hour for a set of wheels, 1.5 ...

LED and Fan holder
I wanted to create something to hold some LED's and also provide a fan mount. So, I came up with this: LightandFanHolder.PNG It holds 6 LEDs and the fan. I also wired a new 5V lead from the power supply all the way to the Hot End to power the LED's and whatever I might want in the future. I went ...

Re: Printing all over the hot plate - Math Gears
I just moved the parts all around a bit on the plate. I've been using the recommended settings from SeeMeCNC for about everything and its been working great. I'm using Aquanet on the glass and that holds it down as long as I'm running the temps pretty hot - 205 and 65. I did not scale it. I'm ...

I printed this one at 1.5, I will try another as large as I can make it on the Rostock - should be about 2.7x the model.

Bulldog in PLA
My Mini bulldog - Black PLA.
used slic3r with some slower fill rates. I was having extruder kickback at faster rates. Upped temperature to 195 and it helped the strings a bit.- Wed Aug 20, 2014 11:19 pm

Layer Fan Shroud Education
Tried printing the fan shroud. This one is a bit tougher. Problems with adhesion mainly. I tried Cura, but the speed was way to high and I don't think I have the right settings. Went back to slic3r and added a brim and then with the hairspray it worked OK. ABS is quite a bit trickier than PLA, so I ...

Mr Rostock is now alive
Putting this together was the most fun I've had in a long time. Thanks Gene for the instructions. Taking my time and making sure I understood how each thing worked helped it all go together well. Debugging a broken thermistor wire in the Hot End took a while but then all worked well. 7 hours of ...

Re: Rostock MAX purchase poll
My "other(s)" were a) The manual. Reading that BEFORE ordering really convinced me that all the bits would fit together and "probably" work. b) This forum. In particular the constructive criticism given on... THE MANUAL ! and of course the spirit in which Gene received and used it. c) Price, "under ...
