As a former auto shop manager and mechanic, if you need a torque wrench, a compression gauge or a set of wire and taper feeler gauges then you have more repair needs than you can easily perform on the side of the road. In there place I would recommend a torques socket set and generac power systems.

Thanks for the info. I found the Google group thread and read through it. There didn't seem to be much of a consensus. I think everyone wants a solution that doesn't involve carcinogenic and/or highly acidic/basic solvents, but maybe that is too much to ask. But that brings us back to the MEK ...
