I picked up that new Jhead Hotend. Print quality is leaps and bounds above what I was getting with the stock nozzle!
I maintain that the seemecnc hotend is NOT appropriate for use with PLA and a small nozzle. That combo simply leads to jams and issues.

Re: PLA jamming issues
Hmm it's mounted fairly well and pointed right at the PEEK, I think I will try making a little funnel out of some cardstock and see where that gets me.

Re: PLA jamming issues
Thanks for the replies gentlemen! I have my temp at around 160, although i have been adjusting it up and down in incriments to no avail. Also, as I said I do have a small fan on my PEEK, although I never turn it off. Literally, never. It has been running for about 2 months nonstop now. Could it ...

PLA jamming issues
Hello everyone, I am having some issues with my H1.1. Printing with PLA, it will work for about 3 days then jam. When I take apart the hotend, I can see that the PTFE has allowed the filament to swell, expanding inside the PTFE and creating a bulge. This causes a jam once the PLA cools a bit. I am ...

Re: Adman234 H1.1 Build Progress and Questions
Lowering my extrustion temp did the trick. I now have everything working again, with the default (slightly edited) 4-axis config values. Does anyone have better steps/mm values for the X Y Z and A axes? I think mine are close but a bit off, using 1.75mm PLA I'm not getting the correct dimensions on ...

Re: Adman234 H1.1 Build Progress and Questions
Hey everyone, Stilll having good success! My main issue right now is stringing and blobbing. I feel like plastic is pooling in the nozzle, between the teflon tubing and the nozzle melt zone. If the teflon tube was longer this would not be an issue. Does anyone have some tips or should I just buy a ...

Re: My overly engineered printer needs help
I'm no pro, but with PLA stainless is not going to work as a thermal barrier. It conducts heat too well. My guess is that the stainless heats up so much it is causing the PLA to go soft before it gets to the hotend, then jam up and cool, causing your issue. Again, I had a similar issue because I ...

Re: My overly engineered printer needs help
I know that feel bro. I'm also using PLA plastic, and I was having some jamming issues. I fixed them by: -dialing in the temperature, mine was too high so the plastic melted early -installing a fan to direct air-flow directly to the PEEK tubing to cool the filament so it does not melt too early ...

Re: H-1.1 Troubleshooting
When i got my power supply it had issues similar to yours so i got a new one but it didn't help. Turns out that one psu wasn't enough. I pulled a psu out of an old PC and it works fine. Check the voltage on your psu with everything connected, it should be 12 volts. If not, psus are cheap.

Re: Hello from a newbie with a query..
Hi will I was in a similar boat as you, confused on the setup. The kit now ships with the 4-axis board, so you no longer need the easydriver. This board has control for several other things as well, like limits, emergency stop, fans, and a disable. If you have any more specific questions i am happy ...

On more searching I unearthed this thread

Very helpful; I swapped out R5 and R6 for more appropriate resistors.

Re: Adman234 H1.1 Build Progress and Questions
OK guys, I'm on the home stretch to get printing here. After that, it will become many months of printing callibration and upgrades. Here is the list of stuff I have left to do: -rebuild new hotend and attach -test vellmen controllers and callibrate temp -get vellmen for heated bed working properly ...

Heated bed gets TOO hot.....
Hey guys,
For using the vellman with the heated print bed, do I need to replace any resistors or anything? It just keeps heating up , seems like about 100C.

try checking the voltage on the PSU, just in case. Mine was only doing about 3 volts.

Re: PSU problem
I just dug out an old PC with a PSU... only 5 12v wires. So until I get a new PSU, I might actually be able to run this thing barebones, with 3 going to the board and 2 for the vellman for the hotend. I need the PLA fan, so maybe I can rig up something with an external 12v source? Time will tell. In ...

PSU problem
Hey guys, I think I FINALLY found the problem with my machine. The power supply is only outputting 2.11 v on what should be 12v, and 1.84v on what should be 5v. This would make sense why the motors are just twitching rather than moving, and why the vellmans wont heat up, and why my fans stall out ...

Re: N00b needs advice from the pros for first build!
I've basically got the printer together.... few small issues. -Pulleys are warped and concave near the middle, shaped like an hourglass. So the spacing is all off on every axis, making the belts rub on everything. I might have to get some new pulleys -I switched computers, but mach3 is still being a ...

Re: N00b needs advice from the pros for first build!
Hi drew, Thanks again for the advice! A tip: If you zip a file with a program like 7zip, then you can upload it without the forum freaking out. Is there any way to know if my board is messed up? All I did was touch some optos, but the LEDs did change when I touched them, maybe this is the issue. If ...
