Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

Thanks for the additional info, and wow, that's a gorgeous print! So, it seems we know these things: - Essentially no discernible banding with perimeters only - Any amount of infill produces it - Extra perimeters mask but don't vanquish it - 0.9 degree steppers and small pulleys pretty much ...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

After seeing KAS's print, I'm thinking we may really be onto something here. At first I thought his (her?) print disproved my hypothesis about interaction with infill being the problem, since the few layers of the top object would have been solid. But then I realized "duh, they just have solid ...

Re: Vertical Banding Revisited

Hi Guys - Great work by everyone, particular kudos to mhackney for the BandAid model! Very interesting results with the 0.9 steppers! A question: have any of you tested printing with 1 perimeter and zero infill? My Rostock was banding about average vs what's been shown here, but then I happened to ...

Ah - didn't think of looking at the layer display, but thought as much from how it was printing. Great suggestion with the top and bottom layers. Thanks!!

Re: Not getting 100% infill from MatterControl

Actually, one further piece of information: The printer just got to a point where it's printing a top layer on some areas of the part. I must have gotten the extruder calibration way off, because I was still getting under extrusion with flow rate set to 130%. Cranked it up to 190% (!), and the ...

Not getting 100% infill from MatterControl

Hi Guys - After way too much travel, I'm finally using my Rostock Max V2 to make some actual parts. These are going to be structural plates for a project made with longish pieces of OpenBeam, so I wanted to print them at 100% infill for strength. While I don't think it'll make any difference in ...

Re: 2nd Edition work in progress...[Updated 14Nov14]

Hi Gene - Thanks for the *really* great manual! I'm very slowly progressing with my Max V2 build, as I typically only get a few hours per week of down time to work on it. I'm having a bit more time to devote to it this week, thanks to the Thanksgiving holiday weekend here in the US. A couple of ...

Re: Excited to join the community!

Hi Guys - Thanks for all the info, sorry to be so slow replying! Back to back biz trips the last 2 weeks, but I'm finally back home, looking forward to a weekend of tinkering and finally working on putting my Rostock Max together! It does sound like I don't have much to worry about with humidity ...

Re: scrapbook cutting with your Rostock

I don't know how precisely uniform the thickness of these things are, but they're designed to use as cutting boards for X-acto blades, and work well - I used one a lot back in my model railroading days. They have a tough but easily-cuttable surface that's under slight compression, so cuts close ...

Re: Relatively New from Michigan

Don't know if this is what you're looking for, but I ordered one for the Rostock I also just ordered: http://www.tricklaser.com/LED-Light-Ring-for-Rostock-Platform-RM-LED-RING.htm Given biz travel and a generally too-full schedule, it'll be a while before I get the printer all assembled, but I'll ...

Re: Excited to join the community!

That's great info guys! Thanks especially to McSlappy, with his real-world experience from a place that sounds even more humid than Atlanta(!) I won't worry about varnishing the edges, then, I'll be happy to get building that much quicker :-) I pretty much have to keep the basement below 50% anyway ...

Excited to join the community!

Hi Everyone - I finally went ahead and ordered a Rostock Max v2 on Friday, after having done a *lot* of research on options. (It's a combination birthday/Christmas present, thanks to my supportive wife Marti for encouraging me with such a big purchase!) The community here was a significant part of ...
