Re: TridPrinting balljoint arms
Following on from this, got all the hardware through and all spaced out correctly, just had a small question regarding anyone who has the tridprinting/tricklaser arms. For the outside nuts, that have no nyloc, are you threadlocking them in place? I doubt doing them up tight is going to hold for the ...

Re: TridPrinting balljoint arms
Great cheers for the info. I sourced hardware locally including M3 threaded rod, so I will cut it to length myself, and also ordered some nylocs and brass washers so I should be good. I'd of ordered from TrickLaser, but the shipping to the UK is insane, so could never justify it.

Re: TridPrinting balljoint arms
Don't have those arms, but given they use the same joints as the Tricklaser arms, you can take a look at how Brian mounts his, he has instructions with pictures on his site. Brian supplies a mounting kit with his arms, you'd have to source the parts yourself, basically it consists of pieces of M3 ...

What did u guys set your steps per mm to with the 5.18:1 geared stepper? I tried 478.6 (stock 92.4*5.18), but it's not perfect. Finetuning could take a while

TridPrinting balljoint arms
Hey guys, Just for those of you who have done the mod, how are you guys mounting them to the effector and the tower arms? Got mine through today (and the 5.18:1 geared extruder), but I'm not sure how best to mount them. I know the ball joints are still M3, but naturally would need a lot of washers ...

Re: X+Y calibration issue (size incorrect - Z fine).
Ah true - it used to be accurate - only mod done is elastic bands on the arms (top and bottom) to reduce the slack - I imagine if they are too tight, they will indeed slightly reduce the arm length :) Mystery solved I think :) Redid my arm length last night, finalized that by recalibrating ...

Re: X+Y calibration issue (size incorrect - Z fine).
The bandaid fix is to change the diagonal rod length, which will fix the scaling issue. I don't know what would actually cause this, but that's a reliable fix which works on X-Y issues where Z is fine. (Observed size / Specified size) * Current arm length setting = New arm length should get you a ...

X+Y calibration issue (size incorrect - Z fine).
Hey guys, So I've been printing for around a year, no issues :) Went to print an item today, looked good, go to fit it and it's too small! Said item has a 67.5mm hole, I checked it with the calipers and it's come out at 65mm. Item for reference can be seen here - http://i.imgur.com/NBikAqE.png it's ...

Mounting a JHead
So, what's the best way? I see SeeMeCNC do a mount, is there anything better out there?
I did have an E3D v6, hated it (as I print mostly PLA), so now it's time for a Jhead
Thanks

Page 240. :) g. Damnit!! Ahh well, at least I finally worked it out - now perfectly level again and printing awesome. I had a failure a few days back - the PTC connector had chewed through the bowden tube, and left the smalll piece it "grabs" inside!! Got some really nice ones through from a store ...

I'm an idiot, of course it's the second set of instructions. Just done it, ended up at 130.3, much better.

Re-calibrating - can't get Horizontal Radius to touch paper?
Just came back to redo my horizontal radius as I noticed printing wide prints it was arching and the center was too high, and the outsides too low. I was at 129.5 for my Horizontal Radius when I originally calibrated the printer, so I went back to the manual to get the right steps to know what to do ...

Re: Smoothieboard group purchase
Does the smoothie board bring any improvement compared to the Rambo Board ? I mean, It looks fancy and all, but what benefit could one expect from the controller switch alone ? Many improvements, have a search on the old google :) So technically it should improve, but in reality - not sure, which ...

Re: Smoothieboard group purchase
So have many people used them on the Rostock yet?
I'm very very tempted, been interested since the start of the group buy. I've seen there's 2 or 3 posts on it, which relate to the config, but worried I'll end up spending weeks configuring it and getting it tuned right?

Also using a 750W Corsair HX series PSU, it was in my main PC for about 3 years, had it for around 5, still going strong!

Re: T-Rex Skull print quality
The ABS link you linked seems like pretty bad quality imo, it may just be that it's ABS, ABS is a funny thing to get totally calibrated, at least that's what I found. The Rostock prints much better than what you've linked, as for comparison to your printer, I'd say it should be better yes ...

Re: Kapton Tape Alternative
You can pretty much do the rest of the printer, but leave out the bed and hotend - that's what I did when I was waiting for the RTV silicone
I'd not go with anything else, Kapton is the stuff to use imo.

Re: Rostock Max v2 + E3D + PET: Any takers so far?
I didn't like my E3Dv6 either. Went back to stock. I must admit, I finally got retraction sorted (3.1mm at 65mm/s), but the print quality was worse than stock hotend! Switched it back to the stock hotend (I had made the wiring loom modular with connectors), reset my MatterControl profiles, did a ...

Re: Rostock Max v2 + E3D + PET: Any takers so far?
I was getting really nasty stringing at even 240C and it was very foggy(clear PETG), I bumped up to 250C and it got clear, 260 and even clearer and less strings. The problem was I was extruding too fast and even 6mm retractions would cause there to be too much pressure at the nozzle. What brand ...

Belts cracking/wearing?
So I've had my printer since November, but doing a visual inspection yesterday while fixing a couple of issues, I noticed all 3 belts have a lot of cracking over their most used areas - now this seems pretty poor considering it's only 4 months old! Anyone else had the same? Presumably I should ...
