Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
You should be able to utilize a single PSU. My 650 watt unit is only capable of 18A on each 12V rail and it has no problems running both the bed and the rest of the printer. I'm going to be load testing my new Diablotek unit with a subwoofer amplifier and a big capacitor to see if it's capable of ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
Sorry, been away from the board for a bit. I bought a Corsair powersupply, but I haven't installed it because, honestly, my setup is working and I don't want to jinx it. I'm running two of the DiabloTek powersupplies from SeeMeCNC. One of them powers everything but the heated bed, and the other ...

Re: Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lin
Decreased flow and speed to 80% with Slic3r doing the slicing. No ridges, but still have some deformation on the back of the cylinder where the protrusion is.

Re: Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lin
I just double checked both slicers, and they're both set appropriately for filament diameter. I'm going to try dropping the flow, and run another print.

Re: Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lin
I just ran a couple of test prints of the cylinder. The one on the left was done in Cura, and still has the ridges. The one on the right was done in Slic3r, and just just has some deformation at the bottom of the protrusion in the middle.

Re: Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lin
I've checked and rechecked my level several times over the last couple of days. I had some initial adjustments to make, but it's been consistently level since.

Re: Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lin
I'm printing with a 90 degree bed and 210 degree hotend with ABS. No fans. I've tried slicing with Cura and Slic3r, but mostly with Cura. The models in the pictures are a mixture of both, and the space ship was with Cura. I played with my extruder steps/mm, and I've reduced the effect significantly ...

Having trouble getting rid of squished and squiggled lines
I've been printing for a couple of weeks with mild success, but I'm running into a defect in my prints that I can't help but think is a simple calibration error. I've been over the manual, this forum, visual troubleshooting guides and YouTube videos without much luck. So far, all of my hurdles with ...

Re: Impressed by Cura!
I just switched the machine that was dedicated to my Rostock from a Windows 8 machine (with Slic3r built in) to an Ubuntu machine (with Cura built in). I was in the middle of printing the "Shootout" calibration prints from Make Magazine, and completely blown away by Cura's increased ability to deal ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
That's what I thought, but I wasn't 100%. Before I got it up and running I was torn between some kind of short/defect in the heated bed or insufficient power supply being the cause of the malfunction. Based on what I've seen, the PSU that came in my kit just wasn't enough to power the whole printer ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
Granted, I didn't open either of the PSUs to run any traces, but I did try several combinations of black/yellow wires. All produced the same results. Admittedly, I am a little confused on one point. Both PSUs that were provided are marked as "Single Rail" design. Does that mean that there is only ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
So I'm up, calibrated and printing. I've got the two power supplies working in tandem to keep the printer powered, and I've got a Corsair 600w ordered so I can be down to using just one. I guess I just have phenomenally bad luck with power supplies.
Thanks again for all the tips!

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
Additional update! After having issue with my second power supply I decided to try running a secondary power source for the heated bed. I wired up the first PSU (that failed when the heated bed reached its target temp) to the connectors for the bed's power supply on the rambo, and let the new PSU ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
Okay, so I decided to try something a little different. I thought maybe I had chosen poorly on my black and yellow wires for my hot bed power pins on the rostock, so I went back and chose four new pins each from a different connector. I have a very vague understanding of how the inside of the PSU ...

Re: Rostock MAX purchase poll
This was our family's first 3D printer. We chose the Rostock Max v2 because: 1. By assembling the kit we would come to understand the inner workings, and be able to correct malfunctions or repair it in the future. 2. The impressive build volume. 3. The ability for SeeMeCNC to deliver the product in ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup
@Guanu I listened for the "scream" just now. I didn't notice anything different with just the bed engaged. The PSU fans seemed to "lower" a bit, but I assume that's normal. With both the hotend and bed engaged I heard a mid-pitched noise. I wouldn't necessarily describe it as a scream, but my ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup
@bot Yes, I had been running it through a power strip, and your message made me do a serious facepalm because I hadn't thought of it first. I had, by this point, removed all lower acrylic and the two rear melanine covers to increase airflow. With all of those panels off, and running directly out of ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup
It's as if I can power and heat them independently, but when I try to do both I run into this problem. I just let my bed heat all the way up and stay there for awhile. When I turned on my hot end, I lost power when it got close to target. I reduced my hotend temp to 190, and my bed temp to 40. I let ...

Rostock Max V2 Shutting Down on Heatup UPDATE
Complete noob here. I got my V2 kit a couple of days ago, and finally began the calibration process today. I made it to the setting the Z-height, but have run into a roadblock. I was able to PID autotune both my hot end and bed successfully, but when I turn them both on to start the process of ...
