Re: Fan noise

I ordered a sunon "maglev", well see how that goes. Ill report back after ive used it. Your aligning the parts up like that in your post was very helpful to understand the difference, thanks! For the kapton tape, if thats what it is, it came that way. i was wondering if thats what it was. btw... if ...

Re: Fan noise

I played with some prototype shapes. From what I can tell, assuming you want maximum travel then the only way to get air from above to below without significantly raising the fan above the feed tube is through a very narrow triangle. Here's a couple pics from an openscad model. Here's the triangle ...

Re: Fan noise

hmmm... All this just to get a reliable fan. If I print off another adapter plate with a cutout that allows me to slide out the existing fan do you think I could design an insert which inserts into that same fan slot but then towers up to fit the 40x10 fan? I cant tell from your pics how much room ...

Re: Fan noise

Well I haven't tried mounting the thing but just a quick look and I think this whole endeavor is going to be a waste. I just don't see how there's going to be any room for a 40mm fan given the limited clearance when the hot end is at the outer limits of it's print area. As for the print, it looked ...

Re: shifted

There really aren't any overhangs to curl.
I'm going to print a cylinder and see if it slips at about the same height.

shifted

A few hours into a print I checked and the whole thing had shifted.
Anybody know what causes this?

Re: Fan noise

I don't mind upgrading to a better fan but the printer is less than 1 month old.
Shouldn't I expect it to last longer than that?

Fan noise

When starting from cold the blower fan makes a lot of noise (the fan that cools the feeder not the layer fan). It starts of make some buzzing noises almost like it's hitting something then as it gets faster it starts to make some sinusoidal noise patters (about 10 sec in) and then it goes quite and ...

Re: Filament stops feeding

Could it be the layer fan?
I don't recall mattercontrol turning it on/off but I have noticed Repetier doing so.

Re: Filament stops feeding

Just an update based upon some more experiments... Repetier-Host seems to do a better job at keeping the nozzle temp close to the target. It still falls short but not as far on average. T-glase does *not* like overhangs. In general the problem seems to be that it tends to curl upwards so you've got ...

Re: Filament stops feeding

So I've up'ed the temp and lowered the speed and so far it's printing much better.
I will say that the Nozzle temp seems to have a tough time staying at the target temp of 235. Struggles to stay in the 230's and I've seen as low as 226.x.

Is this kind of swing in temps normal?

Re: Filament stops feeding

For the temp/speed I started with the PLA profile and modified the temp's. I set the Extruder Temp to 230 and I also up'ed the Extrude First Layer to 228. I also up'ed the bed temp to 65/70 (Bed First Layer/Bed Temperature). The only other change I made was to check the "Generate Support Material ...

Filament stops feeding

I've been trying to print something using t-glase and no matter what I tried I couldn't convince matterslice to generate the necessary support material so I tried switching to slic3r. Previewing in mattercontrol showed the necessary support material but when I tried to print, on the second layer I ...
