Re: Prints are smaller than the design by about 1mm
I've found that slic3r and matterslice both seem to have issues printing a cylinder with a 10 mm OD and 8 mm ID. Slic3r prints both dimensions 1 mm too small and matterslice uses 2 perimeters and makes the OD too large and the ID too small. Cura seems to print this part correctly. All other objects ...

Re: V2 Upgrades
Here's a picture of everything assembled. I still need to come up with something to seal the rest of the plexi to the bottom sheet of melamine. I also need to cut the last piece of plexiglass so I can get some temperature readings with everything assembled.

Re: V2 Upgrades
Attached here is the upper enclosure bracket. These require small wedges to be printed in order to hold them in place. They will be included in my next post. I will update this thread to include a picture of what the finished enclosure looks like.

Re: V2 Upgrades
Attached here is the lower enclosure bracket I created. It's quite long so you'll need good control of your build area. I printed the enclosure brackets two at a time. The lower brackets are an interference fit with the melamine and also require the bottom covers to be notched.

Re: V2 Upgrades
I've uploaded the .stl for the clip I made to eliminate harness snags while printing large objects. If anyone is interested in the original file, let me know and I can upload the .prt file. I will also upload my larger enclosure brackets that prove enough clearance allow full build volume prints ...

Re: Do I have a defective build plate?
It looks like a chunk of glass was pulled from your plate. There have been at least a dozen reports of this and is usually caused by using ABS Juice or other strong adhesive on the glass. I am not sure if this is covered under the SeeMeCNC.com warranty but it can't hurt to ask. I was printing nylon ...

Re: Bad Gcode from Matter Control/Matterslice?
It's about 10" diameter at the top, and 8.5" at the bottom. However, I did notice it decided to randomly print some support material towards the edge of the printable area on the last print I can print a 10.25" diameter circle without any trouble, but it seems like I run into problems once I add Z ...

Bad Gcode from Matter Control/Matterslice?
I've been having trouble lately using the stock firmware on the V2 and Matterslice/Matter Control. I've had a few prints in a row now where the G-code basically crashed the print nozzle into the bed on the first layer or into the part after 2-8 layers. I first had this happen when exporting the ...

First print and a picture of what the vacuum chamber looks like. There is absolutely no visible steam while printing after having the trimmer line in the vacuum chamber for about 3 hours. Re: Best moisture-free filament strategy?
I wonder how well a pressure cooker would handle the vacuum. throw your spool in the pressure cooker, put a vacuum on it, and throw it in the oven. I bought a 42 quart pressure cooker from Amazon.com. I installed an NPT to R-12 style refrigerant fitting in the top and can pull a full vacuum on the ...

Re: Calibration - Box, top layer issues
What is your layer height set to? Mine printed the calibration box fine at the stock .25 and .2 mm layer heights, but it takes more top layers to make anything smaller than about .2 mm look good. I know a guy with a makerbot that uses 12+ top layers over infill to end up with something presentable ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet
Think I may have cracked this one (at least in my case)...entire bed within 0.001" (25 micron) at 110mm radius. http://youtu.be/pnY6eCkasQw I'm planning on writing out my entire calibration procedure for others to try out. One requirement to perform it though...you really need a dial indicator and ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet
For reference to the distortion caused by irregularities http://wp.boim.com/?p=67 Typically it isn't just one wrong variable so the real world outputs are much more complicated. Here is the config file I'm currently using with 626 pilot's firmware (and is going nuts with any of the 31 OQPRS options ...

Re: Unsolved Mystery. Weird Z0 behavior around build perimet
I thought I'd share my Z0 behavior, as I finally found a solution after hours of reading on this forum. I had an issue where the print head would be too high between the Z and X towers, as well as too high between the Z and Y towers. The print head was too low between the X and Y towers. In the end ...

Re: V2 Upgrades
I noticed the same thing on my first big print. I've re-designed the brackets to space the large panels about another inch away from the heated bed to provide more clearance. I'm not sure if the stock layer fan mount will still work, but I plan to design a new one in case I ever decide to print PLA ...

Re: Rostock Max V2 as first 3d Printer
I recommend using 1 kg spools, as they seem to fit the spool holder just fine. It's going to take some work to get my 3 lb string trimmer line to work on the spool holder. You shouldn't need to buy too many imperial wrenches. 8 mm = 5/16" and you can use an adjustable wrench for the big nut on the ...

Re: What is the bed size for Rostock Max 2
Since mattercontrol updated to 1.2.1 file I create in Solidworks are not coming in to scale. I noticed the bed size is 150 x 150 with a build height of 350 (& circular bed). What do you gents using mattercontrol have as a bed size? Don't use 11", as this will cause the skates to crash into the top ...

Spiral Vase Slicing Error
I'm trying to print a 300 mm tall beer bottle that my wife modeled. This bottle has a concave bottom and the ...
