Re: Replace nozzle "old" style
I solved it! (somewhat) The main problem was that hot end was still clogged with plastic, even with the nozzle removed. I heated up the hot end without a nozzle, and used tweezers to clean it out from below. I would prefer a more thorough cleaning, but I would have to cut wires.. This was not a ...

Re: Replace nozzle "old" style
Before attempting to install this replacement nozzle, I removed both the PTC fitting and the inner small PTFE tubing/lining. Maybe that was a mistake? Should I keep the tubing in there for alignment reasons? I'm glad to hear the brown spot on the tubing is normal. I am careful about temperature (I ...

Replace nozzle "old" style
(edit on 1/24: turn clockwise, not counter-clockwise) My .35 nozzle on my Rostock MAX v2 clogged yet again. Tired of the ritualistic nozzle cleaning, I decided to finally switch to a different nozzle (.7 this time) and switch to PLA while I was at it. I took pride in printing ABS with a fine nozzle ...

Re: New PI out
I bought a Raspberry Pi 2 specifically to get OctoPrint running better. I have only gotten the basic Raspbian software installed and I can already tell it's faster. I have high hopes! I may even run the camera this time.

Re: Alternative Heated Enclosure for Rostock MAX
I've been trying to get this enclosure on my Max V2, but even the modified version posted earlier wasn't a good fit in my case (maybe a slightly modified revision, or whatnot). So I contacted OP and got the original design files, and modified the top mount plate to fit. I'm not really finished yet ...

Re: OctoPrint error and print stops?
Is it possible to save a print's gcode out of MatterControl? Generate, then Export. Export is found below item entry in the print queue on some versions. On others, you won't have an Export option there, but will have a View function. Click View, and the window that opens will have the Export ...

Re: OctoPrint error and print stops?
what i would do is troubleshoot a single issue at a time, start with something simple like the calibration cube. slice it as normal, print it with a pc like normal. does it print? if yes then try it with octopi. keep the terminal open while printing and copy paste the screen when it errors. maybe a ...

OctoPrint error and print stops?
I have a puzzling problem with my OctoPi setup. I've got a Rostock MAX v2 and I've been printing from MatterControl on my PC just fine for weeks. I'm finally able to begin a print from my Pi, but it stops suddenly mid-print. I get errors that timeouts and "expected line X" (sorry, I'll get specifics ...

Re: Octoprint on Raspberry Pi performance issue
Oh, looks like the info I dug up was on our Seemecnc forums after all. I intend to try some of the performance fixes mentioned here:

Re: Octoprint on Raspberry Pi performance issue
I am joining the OctoPi fight as well. I have two raspberry pi units and I was able to use this setup with my previous Prusa printer. Another chap on the internet ran into these issues, but he worked through them by using a "fixed" or optimised build of OctoPrint and a serial connection rather than ...

Ah, that's a great idea! I hadn't thought to use those openings, since the cheapskates run over them. Thank you!

Making Max (Rostock Max v2)
My build of a Rostock Max v2 went great, and now I've got my eye on upgrades. The main improvement I'd like to add is a raspberry pi hosting OctoPrint so that I can run prints without tying up my main computer. I don't expect to have to manually access the raspberry pi often, but I have a cheap 7 ...

Re: Rostock MAX v2 with ABS: Part cooling fan?
You might have that mixed up. ABS is for the fans, PLA is what you dont want for the fan prints. PLA melts at a lower temp. I think you're both right. You PRINT the fan shroud with ABS. You RUN the fan when you're printing PLA. Oi, English... Yes, the slicer determines when the layer fan ...

Re: MatterControl requiring reconnection
Okay, sounds like the oddities are normal. This gives me peace of mind! Overall I really like MatterControl. I'm going to be sad to lose some of the features when I start relying on OctoPi again.
Thanks for the help!

Rostock MAX v2 with ABS: Part cooling fan?
I recently finished my Rostock MAX v2 but I omitted a step. I did NOT install the part cooling fan because I only have ABS filament currently. I realize that the part cooling fan is not a good idea for ABS prints. I would like to print with PLA sometime, though. And I'd like to install the fan now ...

MatterControl requiring reconnection
I've got a Rostock MAX v2, working great so far. MatterControl's been working fine for the most part too. Within MatterControl, at various times, I am required to disconnect and reconnect to my printer. To clarify, I have to click the "Disconnect" and "Connect" button at the upper left of the screen ...

Re: New Print Surface - Buildtak
Thanks to the feedback here, I'm convinced. I ordered this from Amazon just now. I found the price very reasonable. I got a pack of three for $54 USD and free shipping! On top of that, it's two day shipping, so I'll be able to try it this week! I suffer with ABS warping daily. I've been using glue ...

"Killed" status on LCD even while idle? (R. MAX v2)
I've got a freshly build rostock max v2 and I'm working my way through calibration. I have a confusing behavior I can't make sense of. When I leave the printer on overnight (merely on at room temperature), the next morning the printer shows up as "Killed". This is relatively consistent. It might be ...

Rostock MAX v2 Done!
I've finished my Rostock MAX v2 and in the calibration stages. I'm nearly able to sever my love-hate relationship with my Prusa v2 printer! My build went fine. Good instructions for sure. However, the PSU with the printer tripped me up the last couple of days. As others on the forum seemingly ...
