Possible Malfunctioning RAMBo?

I'm at a loss, three out of four prints have failed unexpectedly in the last 24 hours. The first spit out a "Error:Format Error", the second tried to initiate printing from the SD card mid print without any user interaction. And now the third exhibited the same behavior as the first. Details below ...

Hotend not reaching target temp

This just started happening last week. We have a Rostock Max V2. Start the machine, set the temp, and notice the hotend is climbing much slower than usual. The heated bed reaches target temp long before the hotend gets close. Hotend climbs slowly and stalls a bit as it gets hotter. Stalls completely ...

CNC Pen Plotter Plans

Hey Everyone! I'm looking to build a 11" x 17" flatbed CNC pen plotter. Does anyone know where I can find plans for this I could use as a starting point? I have all the tools necessary for the custom build (laser, CNC mill, 3d printer) but this would be my first time designing/building a machine and ...

Re: Temp Crash on print start

Got it! Mattercontrol was as you said, not recognizing the syntax. There was just a quirky thing that i had to do to get it to recognize the change, such as clicking outside of the text box prior to clicking save. Thank you!

Re: Temp Crash on print start

Is the slicer supposed to be outputting values in those bracketed areas rather than variables?

Re: Temp Crash on print start

Upon examination of the ACTUAL output of MC, as opposed to the intended output, variables are still in curly braces. ; generated by Slic3r 1.1.7 on 2015-03-25 at 12:07:39 ; perimeters extrusion width = 0.60mm ; infill extrusion width = 0.60mm ; solid infill extrusion width = 0.60mm ; top infill ...

Re: Temp Crash on print start

Running off the SD card:

Extr. Temp crashed,
bed held temp,
was able to manually override target temp of extruder and print started.

I still find it very odd that the extr. heat is just turning off completely

Re: Temp Crash on print start

Still crashing with Start G-Code:

M104 S[temperature]
M190 S[bed_temperature]
M109 S[temperature]
G28

I suspect that the problem may be in the connection and may not lie in the Slicer or the printer. I will try running off the SD card and report back.

Temp Crash on print start

Hey! I've been using mattercontrol with the Matterslice engine, I figured I'd try out the Slic3r engine because the layer previews looked to be neater and Matter slice doesn't support some advanced settings such as Wipe. But alas, when i start the print with the Slic3r engine in MC the printer sets ...

Arduino firmware

Hey guys, We are finally moving on from the body to the brains of our V2. I am being instructed by the manual to choose “Arduino Mega 2560 or Mega ADK” from the "board" submenu in the IDE software, yet my options are either "Arduino Mega or Mega 2560" or "Arduino Mega ADK". see attached screenshot. I ...

Re: Kapton Tape Alternative

Thanks everyone for the insight! Our Kapton tape arrives tomorrow before noon, we were holding off on our build until then. We will consider using the silicone tape as well as it was mentioned above. The hot end is pretty much all that's left. We called SeeMeCNC and the extremely helpful and ...

Re: Kapton Tape Alternative

For wrapping the hot end, as well as covering the terminals beneath the Onyx. Silicone tape? We wouldn't want to use a "lesser" tape on our printer. can someone confirm that this is right?

We need tape! our Kapton tape isn't due to arrive until next wednesday, so that's a whole 5 days without continuing our build. Are there any quality alternatives to Kapton tape?

Re: Dropped Top Base Plate

Thanks Eric!

We probably won't try to repair it, since it's already been primed. The paint and the subsequent gloss finish will keep moisture/humidity from making it worse.

Dropped Top Base Plate

One of our painters accidentally dropped the base top plate after/during the first coat. it mushroomed out on the top side a bit, but I think it should be fine. What do you guys think? Here's a photo: Base top plate.jpg and this one gives you a bit of a better idea where the damaged area is ...

Re: Painted Melamine

Great, what about parts like the belt clamps? i can picture the paint filling the relief on the business end of the things and compromising their function. I'm about to send the whole batch of parts down to the spray room to get primed and painted, should I leave the clamps out?

Maimed Bearing Sleeve

Hey!

We got our kit yesterday and started assembly! When I got around to sleeving the bearings, I noticed this one sleeve that seems a little mussed up. A photograph is attached. Is this okay? or should we try to acquire a new sleeve from SeemeCNC?

Painted Melamine

Hey everyone! Here's the question for this discussion: out of those of you who have painted the edges of your laser cut melamine (before removing the mask), did you do this as an aesthetic choice or a functional one? We are planning to paint our melamine, but more to seal it from changes in humidity ...

I neglected to mention in my first post: We are no strangers to the world of CNC here. We have two CNC Routers, 3 Laser engraving and cutting units, a plasma cutter, and 2 CNC aluminium lathes, and a host of other awesome machines!

Hello! We are a company in southern NH that produces tap handles for craft breweries. We've been casting handles and components in polyurethane resin for some time now and have used printed parts to make molds in the past. Our ABS and PLA filament was delivered today, and our Rostock MAX is due to ...
