Re: Cheapskate and arms options
See Delta Arm Joint Musings I respectfully submit that magnetic ball arms - .... Thank you for the insight and I definitely agree. The magnetic arms have provided me 1,200 hrs of my total ~1,680 hrs of printing on my Rostock and have done so very well! Biggest issue is that I personally made them ...

Re: Cheapskate and arms options
The newest TrickLaser arms ..... So thinking through this, maybe go with the TL arms and then the Seeme Injected molded cheapskates and figure out a new effector? I currently have a custom printed effector for my ball-magnet set up which I could do again in the interim while I decide on an effector ...

Cheapskate and arms options
Hey all! I'm looking to overhaul my entire printer over this summer while I have time. I currently have magnetic carbon fiber arms installed and they were the cause of a huge failure that put my printing on hold for over a month. (not a whole lot of free time during finals week) I'm looking to ditch ...

Re: Single Drastic Layer Shift
Thats honestly really unfortunate. Although this is only the first time in an entire year Ive had issues with MatterSlice, its nice knowing there are optionsbarry99705 wrote:Slic3r in Mattercontrol is broken, and has been for a few versions now. I don't think they want to fix it.

Re: Single Drastic Layer Shift
Finally got it fixed! Im still not quite sure what caused the layer shift, but this last time I printed there was a small layer shift, and then 3 layers later the head rammed into the part. I think the issue was that the slicer was having trouble with the amount of moves that were required for the ...

Re: Single Drastic Layer Shift
Ive tried, I will set up a camera on the next iteration to see. Im always watching when everything is fine, and then I look away and everything goes wrong! But I'll update this once I have tried both!
Which will be after my final today.

Re: Single Drastic Layer Shift
Okay! Now that makes sense. And that also may explain why it happens more with ABS. More current through the heating wires could cause differences in the electric fields and magnetic fields around them. Ill give that a shot! Im going to have to go back through the manual to remember how to even ...

Re: Single Drastic Layer Shift
Would the endstop problem cause an issue midprint? I didnt think the endstops had any effect after the initial homing of the cheapskates and then it begins printing. Thats why if the hotend gets caught while printing itll shift, because the printer still believes its in the correct place from the ...

Single Drastic Layer Shift
So I am currently working on a quad copter frame, because its finals week and modeling/printing is my stress reliever, and my printer has been making it not as fun recently! Basically the print will be just fine for the first 15-30 layers then all of a sudden the effector will start printing ...

Re: V2 Enclosure
Resurecting yet another thread, but for those of you that are still looking for a layer fan that works with this enclosure I just desgned a new one thats based off the Atom 2.0 The mount and layer fan are kind of exclusive to the E3D v6, because thats what I have, but they use the laptop fans, which ...

Re: Air Scorpion - Experimental layer fan cooling shroud
Hey sorry to resurect this thread from the grave, but I had stumbled upon this thread looking for a layer fan similar to the Atom 2.0. I also wanted it to be as compact as possible because im using JFettig's enclosure. The mount and layer fan are kind of exclusive to the E3D v6, because thats what I ...

Re: Hatchbox 1.75mm Filament
Just my 2 cents, but I've been using almost strictly Hatchbox since mid-march and havent had any issues (poor college kid problems). I've gone through their reviews and seen the stories and its like a whole different product. Either I'm really lucky or just incredibly naive. Hopefully the former ...

Also Im kinda in the prediciment that I need to print a new mount for the V6. Do you think I could print in ABS without a peek fan?

Re: E3D V6 not getting up to temp
Well I found my problem.... The mount I printed for the V6 is too short which caused the peek fan to not be seated correctly. It was blowing air directly on to the Heating Block. Just goes to show that you should suspect hardware issues before software issues. Oh well you live and you learn! Thanks ...

Re: E3D V6 not getting up to temp
Thanks for the help guys! So there are a couple things that I had forgotten to do. One being change #EXTO_TEMPSENSOR_TYPE, it was still set to the initial 97 from the stock Rostock settings. Also the PID Drive MAX was set to 205, is that just the highest you can run the Autotune at? After changing ...

E3D V6 not getting up to temp
Hello all! I recently bought an E3D V6 and have it installed and ran the PID tuning. It takes awhile to get to 200C for the Autotune and then I cant get it to 235C at all it just gets stuck at 215C. After I took of the PEEK fan it got to temp no problem. So my question is, is the peek fan necessary ...

Re: V2 Enclosure
So this a took a bit longer than expected, but i have the base done, I havent gotten around to splitting it into different parts! But i did come up with a really interesting way of making doors. It uses two sheets of plexi that overlap in the back and then there will be handles in the front to close ...

Re: V2 Enclosure
You could get the overall diameter down with flat edges by the towers. Because if not, it would have to account for the cheapskates that go outside the base and top. Although if you do then theres more cutting, and you have to find a way to seal the gaps (probably the same sysetm as the orginal ...

Re: V2 Enclosure
I think it would require building a form and slowly bending poly sheets with heat applied to make flat sheets round...not sure how well that would turn out. I feel like with some thinner plexi, like 1/32" (.03"), you could definitely get the curve you wanted. You would most likely just have to go ...

Re: Cannot Get Perfect Calibration
I think if absolutely everything was perfect it would work, but I think in reality there are such small tolerances, whether it is in the laser cut Melamine or the effector plate being ever so slightly tilted it was cause you massive ammounts of headaches. Maybe you could build the mirror plate so ...

Re: Cannot Get Perfect Calibration
Thank you for posting that thread! A whole poop ton of emotions in there, lemme tell ya! But one thing that stuck out to me, was when someone had said that they were getting much better prints when they had left their printer hot for 4.5 days. And everyone kinda agreed noting some "thermal ...

Re: Cannot Get Perfect Calibration
Alright well it wasnt my towers, I got the digital angle gauge (same as you, good choice, I like it a lot!) But before I even tried to tweak them my max deviation was 1 degree on only one tower. I dont think that is enough to cause this many issues. Also checked my bed height with a caliper compared ...

This sounds like a party... But you gotta do what you gotta do! Thanks for explaining that for me!
As soon as I get my scale and have some free time Ill report back if all is well with the world!
Also what is that niffty looking plate on top of the glass on your bed?

Re: Cannot Get Perfect Calibration
Okay I was very much wrong, I am still having issues. I squared all the towers recalibrated and then I ran the circle test (this one: http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:50505/#instructions) And I ended up with this: Calibration Test.png When looking at the outer circle: Quadrant 1 and 2 (top right and ...
