Re: Controlling the Extruder Fan

Found the answers to my own questions. It's right there in the Rostock MAX v2 Assembly/Users Manual pages 232-234:

Just wondering, what is the stock heater cartridge wattage? Just wondering what the difference is to the upgraded 40 watt one.

Thanks, Mo

Re: Controlling the Extruder Fan

Thanks for the super fast reply! Like 3 minutes. Wow.

Looked on eBay for a 40 watt heater cartridge. Found nothing. Any idea where to get a quality one?

Found the threaded thermister: http://www.ebay.com/itm/321341736569

Re: Controlling the Extruder Fan

Thanks for the great info. Good video. Yes, I see the advantages of taking some Kapton tape and wrapping the aluminum portion below the PEEK heat break. I can not imagine why SeeMeCNC would not do this as stock on all their hot ends. Cost can not be an excuse as this is 6" of tape and would add 1 ...

Controlling the Extruder Fan

I have questions about controlling the extruder fan for my Orion printer. But first, here are my issues: 1) When I am warming up the extruder to a target temperature, the extruder fan kicks on. This seems counter productive as the fan is cooling as the extruder as it is trying to warm up. I noticed ...

Re: Goodbye Orion

I am a new Orion owner (less than a week printing), I found this thread interesting.

Your printer looks quite nice. The design looks super solid. Love the HUGE build area and small footprint. I too am very interested in following your work on a printer kit.

Thanks, Mo

Re: Tricklaser Insulators

I did a number of Trick Laser updates to my Orion printer: carbon fiber arms, stepper motor insulators, and aluminum trunks. Took me a good six hours and lots of disassembly and reassembly. But it is now working great. The insulators are noticeably quieter than stock. The motors just purr now. The ...

Re: Tricklaser Insulators

I remade Brian's helpful suggestions into easy to follow steps that even a newbee like me can follow. You are welcome to use/modify this as you like: 1) Remove the 3 side panels by taking out the black plastic thumb screws and removing the blue plastic covers. 2) Loosen the top idler pulley axle ...

Re: Tricklaser Insulators

Brian added the following:
I forgot to mention that the pulleys should be moved out on shaft from motor by 2mm to keep belt aligned to center of pulley.

I hope this helps.

Re: Tricklaser Insulators

I wrote Brian V. privately and he responded to me by email with exactly what I needed: I do not have a detailed install guide, sorry. Here are a few tips off the top of my head... You have to remove the 3 side panels by taking out the black plastic thumbscrews and removing the blue plastic covers ...

Re: Tricklaser Insulators

I'm a new bee here. my first post. Bought an Orion on April 8, 2015. This is my first 3D printer and I am quite happy with it so far printing nicely less than two hours from opening the box. I wanted to get the Max, but this is my first 3D printer and I wanted to get some experience before I went ...
