Re: (New to 3D printing), filament width compensation
It doesn't "try" to compensate, it does. By giving the slicer an accurate filament diameter to work with, you'll get more accurate and better looking parts. For example, if your filament diameter is 1.69 and your slicer thinks it is 1.75, the print will look like crap because what the printer is ...

Re: How much filament?
The printer just keeps going, it has no idea if you have filament or spaghetti running through it. By running the print from host software with the printer connected to a PC, the print can be paused, and filament reloaded manually. You could also manually split the g-code file into two separate ...

Re: (New to 3D printing), filament width compensation
Hi Thanks, so to clarify, does the "slicer" "try" to compensate for the filament on printing? I can design items with less interference fit holes, i can also put them in locations they can be "slight" touched up with sand paper, but i would like to know before i go about designing hardware to print.

(New to 3D printing), filament width compensation
Hi all I am using Matter Control, i dont have a printer yet, but looking at the SeeMeCNC Rostock MAX™ v2 as i need to print 4x8x12 inch parts, however the question is this, as there will be tight interference fit (one part has a 0.5inch diameter pole to fit a 0.5inch diameter hole so they fit t ...

I assume you got this fixed, if so was it a warranty issue?

Re: Success, then frustration
Wanted to ask.... as i am looking at getting a MX v2 and printing some VERY large items (4x8x12 inches, about 4 of them) for the first prints.... is the supplied head not up to this (will be using PLA) or should i be buying a new head to start with?

This is going to eat through filament then.... handy to know.
Will the printer stop and wait for a re-load or will i need to hope i have enough?
Rostock MAX v2, what does this printer do when it runs out of filament?

Re: Is this possible to print?
That will entirely depend on what slicing software you are using. In Cura, it's on the left in a dropdown. MatterControl (wasnt aware there were other software), i downloaded it as looking at one of there printers. Is MatterControl good? (i assume so as its designed for there printer), however i am ...

Re: Is this possible to print?
Absolutely. You will just need to make sure you "check mark "support such that the first layers above the hole/rectangle do not sag. Or rotate the print such that the hole is vertical to the print layers. I cant rotate the job as its about 12 inches tall (wont fit on the table when rotated ...

How much filament?
Hi
I have never 3D printed before, i have a model and it says "218653.00mm" of filament needed, so how much do you get on a spool (which is either 1 or 2 pounds)?

///Ashley Griffin - South ON, Canada, new to 3D Printing
Hi all I have wanted to get a 3D printer for about 7-8 years, since i started using Google Sketchup. I am looking at the Rostock MAX™ v2 (after finding the Folger Tech Kossel 2020 Full 3D Printer, i couldnt find a review for this printer and wanted the larger format the Rostock was able to do. I w ...
