How does GCode work??
Hi all, I'm trying to understand a little about the communication between Matter Control and my Rostock V2. Basicalle I get how GCode works, but I'm unsure how it goes about setting the temperature and speeds etc. I've noticed that there are some M settings for temperature in the start code from the ...

Re: Parts have started lifting
Hi VAXHeadroom, Yep, that's the way I went and its been amazing! I've managed to patch bits of Kapton so far but will need to replace a section from the centre soon. Perfect stick every time so far which I'm so happy with.

Re: Parts have started lifting
Thanks all for your replies. IMBoring25, the ambient appears to get around 31 degrees. I could pump it a bit more as there is one setting higher. I am a little lost on your powering description. What do you mean by a load on the 5v rail? Also I'm not sure of the terms PSU and SSR. I'm not sure of ...

Parts have started lifting
Hi all, Hoping for some general advice here. I have had my Rostock running for about a year and have had some great small prints. Inititally I had no luck with the glue on the bed, so I went to Kapton tape and have had great success. However a few months back I put an aluminium plate under my glass ...

Raft Printing Issues
Hi all, I've had my Rostock running for about 6 months now. Early on, I chose to use the CuraEngine slicer option within matter control and have been really happy with the printing results. However I'm trying to do a pretty large print with large overhangs at the moment and it keeps failing, likely ...

Re: Extruder Temperature Help
HI Gene, The temp of the hot end works pretty well. If I set it to 228, it will settle near enough to 228. Its extruding fine during printing. The issue was only with loading the filament and hitting the E+ button. I just wanted to know what temperature the firmware allows the E+ button to work at ...

Re: Help with horizontal surface finish
Hi IMBoring25. Thanks for the tips. I've put Kapton down ont he glass and it seems to be doing pretty well. I also whipped up a quick wall around the Rostock from cardboard to minimize drafts. Still minor issues with ABS part lifting at one end from the raft, but I'm getting there. Re the surface ...

Re: How to clean the Glass Plate
Thanks all. Good tips there. I cleaned off the glass with soapy water, then put Kapton tape on it. Teh kapton seems to be going pretty well. Still some issue with the Abe part lifting from the raft but its an improvement!!!

How to clean the Glass Plate
Hi all, What is the best way to clean the purple glue off the glass plate. I'm new to this and think I've made a bit of a mess of it, so want to clean and try again..
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Help with horizontal surface finish
Thankyou IMboring25 Its the top side of the raft on the left and the top side of the finished part onthe right, so on the right you are looking at the finished top surface of the bottom of the part, which isn't a good result. printing is AB. Using Mattercontrol with Natterslice all srtraight out of ...

Help with horizontal surface finish
Hi all, I have just started working with my new Rostock. My prints are looking ok as far as finish of vertical walls goes but my horizontal surfaces are not looking so great. If I add a raft, the raft actually looks pretty nice but the part horizontal surface is very stringy. What settings could I ...

Re: Extruder Temperature Help
I tried 228 and nothing happenned. I got it to work at 200, so maybe that is the firmware setting. Not sure if its right tho? I think the printing is working at 228 but its when I add filament and hit extrude +10 that I'm having trouble working it out.
Should it still work at 228?
Thanks.

Hi, Is the purple glue needed to be cleaned off after each print or do you just add more over the top of it?
Thanks

Extruder Temperature Help
Hi all, I've just completed my Rostock build and am about to extrude some filament. During the Matter Control setup, the document calls up and shows two buttons to the right of the extruder temperature. PLA and ABS. My installation doesn't have them. I can see that is just a temperature preset. The ...

I am also having this problem. Its seems to be the only place in the manual that doesn't give any suggestion of what to do in this case. Did you find the solution??
Thanks.
Thanks.

Thankyou Jimustanguitar! Your images look great, just what I needed to see. I'm keen to build, no problems there. Really like your shapeoko belt tensioner print. Have you shared that file anywhere?? Would be great to replace the old cable ties on mine!

Rostock vs other printers
Hi all, I have been running an Up Mini 3D printer and am now looking at getting a Rostock max for its build size. The Up Mini has a small build area and trouble with the print board warping when printing ABS, slightly distorting larger prints. But apart from that the print resolution on the up mini ...
