Re: False line keeps printing??
Nope. It only shows on the print. I downloaded Slic3r and just print via SD card. Same STL's and no false line. If I understand this correctly, your old slicer is what was causing the problem? I don't know. Moving to an external copy of Slic3r and printing from and SD card has eliminated the issue.

Re: False line keeps printing??
I think it may have started in Matterslice however I changed to Slic3r within MC about the time it started. I can't remember which one it started in but it does it in both Matterslice and Slic3r within MC.BenTheRighteous wrote:What slicer was giving you the problem?

Re: False line keeps printing??
Oddly enough it does this midway through the first layer printing. I have caught it and stopped it each time so I don't know if it would just continue on with the print.

Ok thank you guys for the input. I have a "nice" craftsman multi-meter that has this function. Might look into getting an attachment for this purpose.

Re: ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
Thanks IMBoring. You got me up and printing again. I started a new thread about what was happening with MC. It started printing a false line out of the blue on multiple STL's.
I'm able to use Slic3r and save the gCode to directly to an SD card.

Re: ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
Actually can't I just slice it with Slic3r and import the gCode to the MC GUI? I don't want to go through all the calibrating stuff again right now. I just want to print and play. I have it calibrated pretty damn nice now. Also on a side note...can I use Slic3r and then save the gCode to an SD and ...

Checking true hotend temps
So I have a non contact temp gun and it seems to work accurately. I can't find a spot on my hotend that measures above 80 degrees C. I don't seem to have an issue printing but I was just curious if others have found this too. Oh and the temp gun is rated to 750 degrees C.

Re: ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
IMBoring,
When I setup Repieter Host I'm just looking to set all the preferences like temp, speed, layer thickness and such. All the calibration and horizontal radius type settings are stored within the EEPROM correct? I think I'm going to try printing via RH tonight.

It's not custom. It's just a field on the extruder tab.

Re: Whats the max Volume per second for stock extruder
I think as a practical matter, if you're using a standard-size nozzle or smaller, the extruder's not going to be your limiting factor during printing - which is probably why as Jim said, it's not discussed very often. I would think that I have to put a number in that is within a window of viability ...

Re: ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
Do you run your Printer via the stand alone or do you generate the code in the stand alone then paste it in the Terminal Window? I was having the issue with MC crashing too.

Re: What's with the Slice "engines"?
So if you were using MatterControl and a stand alone slicer, would you just take the Gcode from the slicer and past it in the "terminal window" of MatterControl?

Crap! Yes I meant .6mm.
Thank you for the screenshot. What is the advantage to having a standalone Slic3
What is the difference between Slic3r, MatterSlice and CuraEngine? I'm probably going to start another thread asking this question.

Re: ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
IMB thank you for the input. I corrected my mistake on the .002". -Also I was using a .1 mm layer height. I can see how this would compound by each layer. Didn't think of that. -As for the Slic3r vs. MC....it was MC. -I still don't get why you wouldn't use a true height of 0.00 mm for the Z0. If ...

ABS Slicer settings for 1st layer
So I am trying to dial in my new printer. I have the files for Materials and Quality that were linked to in the instructions. I've got my bed very square and set my Z height to Zero using a .051 mm (.002 in) feeler gauge. I'm trying to really dial in the first layer right now. My problem is I seem ...
