Is there any reason why you adjust the arm length and not the step/mm? Step/mm should impact only the physical dimensions and nothing else.

It would be really nice if someone made a "shield" for Smoothie that would plug into the external driver ports, the ones you have to solder pin headers to if you want to use external drivers, and use that to drive some chips with 256x microstepping.
