Re: Is Johnoly99's RepetierMax Firmware Already Set For Rost
I just switched to the RepetierMax Firmware and now Repetier-Host won't connect to my printer... I don't get any errors, it just says connected but nothing happens... Any ideas?

You're very confrontational, Cambo. I didn't say I NEEDED to use the hot end. I said I use it to heat up the bed faster and to get higher temperatures (higher than some of the commonly recommended temperatures)... See the difference? So yes, it is "totally functional right outta the gate"

Re: rostock max or something else
My input... I had ZERO experience with 3D printers, machining, or the likes... I didn't even know 3D printers existed up until a week before I placed an order for my Rostock. So I went into this fairly blind - with no expectations, hell, I wasn't even sure this thing would work when I finished it ...

I use my hot end to speed up heating and achieve higher temperatures. Works for me with the "stock" set up

As far as that debate... According to Reynolds the shiny and dull sides are a result of the manufacturing process. It doesn't matter what side up

Re: Couple of n00b questions
I actually took a piece of aluminum foil and cut it to the shape of the boro glass... Then I used kapton tape to secure the foil to the glass... Placed it so the foil is between the glass and onyx (onyx is taped up, too) and installed the clips... Seems to be spreading the heat from the onyx out ...

Re: Domed build platform / bed help...
Currently suffering from the same problem... My Rostock Max base is bowed downwards and the Onyx is bowed upwards when installed... I'm gonna try some things when I get home from work... But I'm concerned about the fitment of tue base in general

Pick up a Faxon Firearms ARAK 21 upper and you can get rid of the whole buffer system. Any idea as to why he included the trigger guard in the model? Most AR lowers allow you to change them out

Greetings from MA
Hello all! Just ordered my Max last week. This will be my first 3D printer build. After lurking on this forum for some time I'm both excited and terrified to give this ago. Really hoping I don't end up with a $1,000 paper weight.
