Re: My Rostock Max 1st gen upgraded
Excellent print, very nice job and no cooling fan for the filament. I've not managed one as tight as yours, been thinking it needed cooling, obviously not. Once agai, good job...

Re: Best quality plastic
For this side of the pond, I've used 3Dfilaprint PLA, heard good reports about Spectrum but I haven't tried it.

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Carried on with what I learnt yesterday, just out of interest I tried the bed a different temperatures just to quantify the differences, from room temp. (19 degrees C), the centre raised 0.06mm and the edges dropped 0.05mm uniformly round the edge at 65 degrees C. Recapping, X, Y, Z and Centre ...

Starting with the following case. #define DELTA_ALPHA_A 210 // X tower #define DELTA_ALPHA_B 330 // Y tower #define DELTA_ALPHA_C 90 // Z tower Each tower was changed by 0.5 a degree clockwise and counter clockwise. So as not to bore those who are looking for the solution the workings are in the ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Good reading if sometimes a touch confusing with every ones unique terminology. http://forum.seemecnc.com/posting.php?mode=reply&f=54&t=4035 Having read though this and many related posts, I found the information confusing till I had a go and spent the day adjusting the tower rotations within the ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
First build and design was a dial indicator mount for a cheap and cheerful Silverline dial indicator. NB: in my design I used an M8 to mount the indicator which meant I had to drill out the mounting hole in the indicator to fit (it was 1/4"). Dial Indicator Mount.stl Tried to load up the .3dm but it ...

Repetier firmware v0.91 Rev 7 configuration tool
Started playing around with the configuration tool for Repetier Host Firmware, seems very useful if only I knew what it all means. The Start page claims to take your Configuration.h file and assist and fill in but alas doesn't seem to work with my v0.91 rev 1 configuration that has all of the info ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Starting to move ahead now, created my first part, a mount for dial guage. I've taken the arms off and 'fettled' them. Just before putting it to bed for the night decided to play with the dial guage. I really should have listened to my wife and not had another 5 minutes. I checked the usual ...

Slic3r GCode Speed anomally - FIXED
Having an issue with Slic3r, when I slice up the calibration cube (Slic3r 1.0.0RC2), using the standard set out in the extruder calibration sticky; The PLA started welland got progressively worse (all set 20mm/s), not a problem, increase the speed (60mm/s), 2nd print no different. Upped the speed to ...

Re: What is Z0?
Thanks for all the opinions, reset my Z0 to be 'potentially' the hot end striking the glass. Used the 3M blue tape with isopropynol alcohol (even more fun when the bed is heated). Adheres well with PLA @ 170 and heatbed 60 degrees C for the first layer then let it cool. Now it's repeatable, it's ...

What is Z0?
Z0 is where the bed is but where / how far away is the hot end nozzle. I have used 0.05 mm feeler gauge at the 4 points on the bed (each tower and centre), sorted out the delta radius. Do I subtract the 0.05mm to set the Z0 or is this taken into account by the slic3r software for the first layer ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Setting up Steve's extruder. Any useful hints and tips other than bin it. I've got 1.75mm PLA (measured at 1.77mm before and after extruder), it feed out nicely without the PTFE tube (4mm OD so I suspect 2mm ID) 620mm long. The PLA seems to snag up on the inside of the PTFE tube. I've tried ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Thanks for the prompt reply, I've got the PID part sorted as it's well documented, like calibrating the hotend temp, but I can't find where it gets it lookup from, I've found the pin it comes in on from pins.h but after that I'm floundering. http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=54&t=1735&p ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Hmm, transformer is out, I don't particularly like switched mode PSU's but as I have to buy it rather than someone else I may have to rethink. To bring the hotplate into calibration does anyone know the settings. I took a guess and put in a large THERM3_BETA but it doesn't appear to make any ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Back home after a mobilisation of a ship in France, it gave me plenty of time to 'study form' about getting my Rostock calibrated. First mistake I had made was with the EPROM and not setting the mode to zero to adjust the radius. Yesterday I had a lovely evening with my engineers square, vernier ...

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Many thanks, thought I might have the wrong one, hopefully the calibration I've already carried out won't be wasted, would I be correct in saying I only need to copy the relevant points from the configuration.h file? Quickly figuring out I might need to up the voltage for the heat bed if I want to ...

The picture with the teeth wasn't zoomed in, if you squint or zoom in using paint, I wrote down the numbers as I couldn't remember how many there were and I wasn't going to strip it all down!

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Cup of tea over, Downloaded the latest version of Reptier Host V0.95F which has slic3r Version 1.0.0RC2, then Arduino 1.0.5-r2. So far so good. Now to take advantage of all these, I need the firmware, but which one? I can find multiple repository with firmware in with Rostock MAX mentioned. My ...

Too late to the party... Finally, after what is nearly a year I've got round to completing the build of printer, it's been glowering at me from the corner of the room every time I passed it. Re: Analog_Banana's Rostock Max in the UK
I don't feel so alone this side of the pond, good to see how you dealt with the MDF, I coated mine with Rustins. How's the build going? Did you shim any parts? I spent a day applying 6mm melamine shims to reduce the slack in pegs (did I waste my time?) I got white acetal bits, not sure if they are ...

Re: Jim's Rostock Build pics (in progress)
Looking very nice. Did you paint the frame black? Was the MDF coated with melamine? Mine was bare and I ended up shimming the frame due to the tolerances being for a 1/4" rather than 6mm.
Nice job

Re: Bluemalu - Rostock MAX build
Thanks for the info, I used the flat washer just to recess the bearing (I've seen bearings over pressed (probably not possible in this case) using a socket). When I tried the gears one of the gears had a damaged tooth, I tried to reshape it and make it run smoother but in the end, ended up taking ...
