At wits end with first layer issues

I have the steel nozzle, not the brass one that comes with it. Three different brands of PLA all look like this. I have tired Cura, Slic3r, KISSlicer64, and Matter Slice I loosened the top, pushed the bowden tube in, and tightened it down. All three towers are square. When I spin the bed, the ...

Re: Help with stringing

Here's what worked for me... Not sure if it was the calibration of the extruder (Probably not, as it was 1mm under extruding) Or if it was switching back to Cura after a week of matter control (Probably). I literally typed the exact same settings into Cura that I had in Matter control and I have NO ...

Re: Help with stringing

I am getting some pretty crazy stringing on my prints as well. I came to almost the exact setting as you, but my extruder will click below 225 with the PLA I was using this morning. I'm baffled. I have tried the three brands I have, varying the temperature as low as I can go, changing retraction, z ...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

I am so close to figuring it out. Turns out the "Auto Calibrate" doesn't do the full job. No matter how many times I did it coupled with the delta guide, I never got a good first layer. THIS was the magic: http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php?f=77&t=5906 Use with a 20mm feeler gauge. After three ...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

Yes, it is perfectly round. Yes, it is fairly centered on the bed (maybe up a mm or two). Lots of lens perspective/distortion going on with the camera (fun article on the subject http://gizmodo.com/5857279/this-is-how-lenses-beautify-or-uglify-your-pretty-face). It's impossible to get dimension ...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

I went out and bought a feeler gauge. I performed the procedure in the V2 manual Appendix B. I got it perfect. Just barely dragging at all 4 points. I tweaked the horizontal rod radius to be as perfect as possible. The auto calibrate in all respects was close, but not close enough for a good first ...

Re: Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

I have gone through the process in the first link several times and it is not improving.

I am going to go out and buy a feeler gauge so I can do the V2 manual calibration. But with so many people having successful auto calibrations, it makes me wonder what's so different about mine.

Re: Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

Looks like your horizontal radius is wrong. That controls the amount the edge height differs than the center height. Then it also looks like there is a slight tilt. But get that horizontal radius fixed first. Dale Since I have ran the auto calibration and gone through the https://www.seemecnc.com ...

Rostock Max V3 Really having a hard time getting my first layer down

TL;DR Clicking extruder and I think I am missing something here on calibrating the z-height all around the bed, not just the center. Current Setup: Rostock Max v3 .5mm Stainless Nozzle Firmware 20170201 (Edit: I totally dislexed the firmware version) Cura 2.31 with varying initial heights of .08, .1 ...
