Re: Z AXIS ISSUE. Any help would be appreciated!!
Though it does appear you are much more electronically knowledgable than I, and also have the proper equipment for testing. My experiences with reversing of direction has always been a wiring issue with the stepper. That being said I wasnt overly impressed with the electronics/driver package. But I ...

Re: Prober Mods 3mm out of 1.75 parts
IIRC the MK7 uses no PEEK or PTFE. Though it might just be no PTFE. It is only for the 1.75mm filament but what difference does that make? Now who made those tiles for the Space Shuttle? Seems like they might want to sell a few now.

Re: What I learned today
I agree on the o rings. I dont blame SeeMeCnc for the stepper heat issue. I am running a different controller and a different stepper too ( I needed a 6 or more wire stepper). Come to think of it the only thing H1 is the actual roller/drive assembly and the new PEEK tube for a 3mm hot end (with a ...

Re: What I learned today
My experience was that the stepper warmed the plastic frame and allowed the gears to skip easier. I screwed (replaced a screw on the back of the stepper with a longer 1) a little piece of angled sheetmetal on the tail of the stepper to brace it against the plastic. I installed a 40mm fan directed at ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
You were the one who made speeds painfully obvious to me! I was under the impression (maybe false) that the printers were to be set up in mm but I see a few now setting them up in inches. I really see no difference more than personal familiarity. I do know I make mistakes during the conversions ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Lee, I ran some back to back tests with and without backlash comp with a few different prints. I see no differrence in the operation and very little if any in the results. Most of my mediocre results seem to caused by speed. Btw I did have an issue with skewing when I originally used BC on the ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
It passed the driver test fine and yes I did do all of the optimization steps. I too have a few machines running Mach. I thought I had some idea of how it worked but I seem just as confused as ever. This very machine (in a milling configuration on the old PC) was running much faster before it died ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
What kind of printer are you running? An H1? I wonder if computers themselves have some say within Mach. How are you getting 90 without stalling or is that just the setting and it is never realized? What is your velocity setting for your x & y axis"

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
A few in my case is an understatement. Btw what kind of bridging speeds are you running? I changed my kernel speed to 45. I can only seem to obtain about v2800/a300-450 without stalling. Same at either kernel setting. Anyway doesnt that make my maximum print speed only 46.66mm/sec?

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
The nozzle that came with my H1 3mm extruder was marked .025, I was guessing that was in inch. I did fudge from a .64 to a .60 and now that the settings and working are better infill maybe a hair too much. I did speak too early on that last print. Though the infill and top frame are now solid, the ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Lee, You have now really made me think. When you suggested the moving of the kernel speed within Mach it made me wonder. In the last month I have changed a computer or 2 that run Mach. I also changed over to mm on this machine (printer). I do believe this computer is more limited or wont move the ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Lee, I have tried the calibration tool within Mach but I am suspicious of my measurement technique ( I am using a digital caliper I trust but being as little .05 off makes a difference it appears). Originally after using it, I would get slight bulging on the straight sides of the cube. I went down ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
What did you see that makes you think I need to recalibrate? Not saying I dont, just wondering what you saw? Infills missing? I have tinkered with extrusion multiplier values a little but not nozzle size.

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
I am running the hollow cube right now and have had a few surprising results. After the statements on A axis tuning speeds, I sped all of my axis up till stalling (huge offsets in the cube). I then lowered them by about 1/3. The results are much better. My A axis has a velocity of 1600 at the moment ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Lee, I will run that cube. "Wistle" is the name of the file on Thingiverse that I have tried to print numerous times with no success. All leak just enough to not work (well one worked, but only if blowing really hard).I have run a thin wall box with great results and a hollow pyramid. That was fun ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Those blobs may also be in the stl file. I have noticed if there are small radius on a part, it will tend to dwell too long and blob. Redoing my Cad drawings have helped with that. In most cases, simpler drawing is better for printiong. Leeway, Thanks for that tidbit. I was curious earlier today as ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Thanks for all of the input guys! I need it. Today I lowered my A axis steps per unit in 1% increments until the bulging went away. That helped a bit. I was at 324.7913519 and am now at 316.7913519. My sides are now much straighter. I do still get a small blob right as the filament is starting to ...

Re: Questions about Slic3r?
Polygonhell, Thanks for the response. Though 200 is fast I get no stalling on retraction. I do think if I was trying to feed that fast stalling would be an issue. I have tried retraction at many speeds with no apparent change. I also have tried using negative numbers in the extra filament dispensed ...

Questions about Slic3r?
I am getting closer with my Repstrap (using an H1 extruder). I am running Slic3r 7.1, 3mm PLA @ 175c with a .64mm nozzle. In the present configuration using a layer height of .285mm I am getting fairly good results however oozing is an issue to some extent. I am using a retract of 4mm @ 200. I still ...

Re: Anyone running different hot ends?
Yes, I have had a few problems with the original 1.75mm hot end (I am using different electronics, Gnexlab Gen 2 controller). I was having a problem with the stepper warming the plastic side piece of the extruder drive and the gears would skip. I installed a brace to eliminate that problem. I was ...
