Re: Tri Hotend

WOW thundead , I really enjoyed that, Nice vid showing how you purge the nozzle between layers.

Does your machine do 2 layers per hot end and then switch or does it switch over every layer ?

Do you have a few pics of the whole machine to share ?

Charge-out Rate

So, after having this amazing machine for about 6 months and now that I am making consistent good quality prints, I am getting quite a few enquiries to print for other people. What would a reasonable charge out rate be? I am thinking of 8 - 10$ per hour plus material used? Does that sound excessive ...

Re: quad extruder on Rostock Max

The advantage for me would be different nozzle sizes. I want one to run my own "lyman extruder" fillament with a .6 nozzle for the infills and then my nice shop bought filament with a .3 nozzle for the perimeters. Thant way I get faster and cheaper prints with good quality "skins" - I hope KISS or ...

Re: feed motor loads and boggs the z axis

WOW! I read your post about 10 times and I still cant see how the "feed motor" can physically affect the axis motors. I am sure that the 2 issues are completely separate. 1) are you using PLA or ABS ? 185 is a bit low for ABS, so I would up the temp on the hot end this would make the plastic more ...

Re: Post print behavior

Are you sure that the motors are actualy driving the effector down to the bed ? On my printer when the steppers are disabled, the hot-end does slowly "sag" to the bed because of gravity, Though not usually all the arms move at the same rate. Your printer may just be better set up than mine :)

Re: All prints are raising up on one edge

Jay,

Are you printing with ABS or PLA ?

As a side note.... what is the ideal bed temp for ABS ? , I am using 80 Deg, I feel it should be hotter but my onyx wont go up higher unless i go for a higher voltage power supply.

Flateric,

Did you print it in ABS or PLA ?

I was thinking PLA for the Gears and then ABS for the body ?

Any Suggestions ?

RAMBO 120mm Cooling Fan

So.. I has a large print crash on me and I believe the culprit could be a overheating RAMBO, so I Went all out and slapped on a HUGE 120mm cooling fan. Thanks Broose, you were spot on. The 5A fuse is blown, now to track down a source in "Darkest Africa"

Was this caused by me not tuning the PID loop before I turned on the hotend ?

Also the Peek fan I connected does not work (no power on the output pins)

This would seem to point to a config issue, but I don't know how to check that

Just assembled my Rostock and I am very happy with how it turned out. Great Build experience. Bearing in mind that I am a total noob to 3d printing, Here is my issue...
