Model to complex to slice?!

Post by rabbit »

Hi to all,
usually I model my things on my own but this thing (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:359618) looks really nice and I want to print it.
Now I have a little problem; Mattercontrol tells me it is to complex and will result in possible failures. If I continue anyway Mattercontrol takes forever and even can't render it.
Does anyone have an idea how I could get this thing on my Rostock? I tried KISS-Slicer but either I made something wrong (bet that) or there must be another way.

Thank you all :-)

The instructions say it should be printed with 100% infill, 0.3 layers and 2 "shells" (walls, perimeters, etc). The original was also made with a 0.4mm nozzle.

yes, but I don't get to that point.
Mattercontrol takes forever to slice that thing. I tried KISS and the gcode file starts to print and in the middle of the first layer I a get a sd-failure message! :-(

KISSlicer takes a few minutes to slice. I ran the file with 250 micron layers, and the resulting gcode file is ~49Mb.

One thing I did notice was that KISS needed around 2.6G of member to complete the slicing. This is a big model. Are you running short on system memory?

I have 32GB ram, so I don't think that's the problem.
Is there a way to print with KISS without SD-card?
I tried severall times with Cura and KISS to slice...
copied to SD-card and inserted into the printer.
Sometimes I don't see any files on the LCD and sometimes the print stops after aprox 40 secs!!!
Took another SD-card to check the card. Same result!
So sad :-(
Anyone any idea? Can anyone slice this thing for me? RostockV2 with complete V3 upgrade.
Thank sou very much so far
