My prints are so close to perfect, but I'm still seeing some light cobwebby stringing between towers.
I have spent a lot of time on this forum gathering best practices (thanks, everyone). Here is a list of things I've done:
- Lowered retraction distance from S3D's 6.5mm recommendation, down to 2mm (1mm showed more strings)
- Lowered retraction speed from S3D's 110mmps recommendation, down to 22.5mmps
- Added vertical lift of 4mm
- Added coasting distance (extrusion cutoff before retraction) of 1mm
- Experimented with temperature to find lowest point where it reliably extrudes (with my Hatchbox PLA gold, it's 208°C)
My S3D retraction settings are pretty much stolen from geneb:
I'm not yet knowledgeable enough but to shoot in the dark, trying different things.
- Should I try a lower speed and lower temperature? (Currently it's the default 60mmps)
- Should I introduce a negative "Extra Restart Distance?"
- Should I increase the coasting distance?
- Are my prints already good enough and I'm being crazy?
