Eureka! I fixed a problem I had for over a month that was sometimes giving me flow fits. It appears that I didn't do the extra step of pushing the bowden tube further down into the hot end after inserting the black keeper-clip. Common beginner mistake! The tip is on the V3 build instructions on the SeeMe website, but I guess I missed it. Another tip: You can check that the bowden tube is fully seated by removing the keeper-clip and pressing down on the bowden tube. The small black ring and the tube should not move further into the hot end. Reattach the clip and you are good to go.
I tore down the HE today in an attempt to see if something was blocking the hot end above the nozzle and you can see in the pictures below that there was a plug of PLA about 2.3 mm long and the same diameter as the bowden tube. I used a 4mm drill which just fit inside the HE part that joins the hot block to the heat sink to slowly work my way through the bore and the plug popped out on the drill.

When I put it all back together I trimmed the bowden tube square before inserting into the HE. I used the tubing cutter tool in the picture below. It is spring loaded to place a small amount of bade pressure on the tube. For most tube cutting you can just squeeze the tool and cut the tube in half, but this leaves a sloped end. TIP: Let the tool hold itself on the tube and slowly spin the tool around tube. A few turns one way and a then back the opposite direction will make a square cut.
