Post by Brendan »

I am having this problem during prints when the first few layers go so well then all of a sudden the print speed speeds up and it's lays filament down in the air, off course of where the print really is. Need help asap.. thank you guys so much.

The stepper motors are not closed-loop systems, so once they wind up somewhere other than where the electronics think they are, the machine will indeed have a mind of its own.

They can wind up in the wrong place if the nozzle hits something or if there's binding in the mechanism somewhere, either of which can cause one or more motors to miss steps. Since you say it speeds up at the moment in question, however, it could be pertinent to look into your slicer settings. You don't say which one you're using. A request for a speed the machine is not capable of doing can also cause this symptom if it tries.
