MRRF was Awesome

Post by timskloss »

This was the first MRRF from me and my daughter and we had an absolute blast! From all accounts is was nearly double the size of last year at over 1200 registrants by noon on Saturday. All the exhibitor tables in the main hall were full by about 6 pm on Friday and the organizers opened the adjacent building for more space and the H2 build-off. If you weren't there you should look up the videos from the usual 3D gurus as most of them were there at the show.

When I bought our first DIY printer kit late last year, little did I know about the passionate community that was lurking in the shadows. The SeeMeeCNC team did an outstanding job making sure everything was perfect. Although I don't envy the challenge they will have for next year's show if the growth rate continues at this pace.

My takeaways:
-international crowd. I got to meet influential builders from Taiwan, the UK, Sweeden, and Boston. :D
-All ages. One highlight for me was watching a group of 12 year old boy scouts kick butt in the H2 build off. They couldn't reach the printer on the table, so they stood ON the table!
-Expertise. We could not come up with a question that couldn't be answered by someone at the show.
-Presentations. Sometimes hard to hear because of all the activity, the speakers were knowledgeable and personable, even with faced with a missing VGA cable.
-Bottomless Tacos on Saturday night. Need I say more?
-Enthusiasm. I NEVER heard any negativity on the grounds.

We are SOOOO going back next year. Have they opened registration yet?? :P

Thanks Tim, it was great meeting you and your daughter and her Core X-Y. I resemble some of the comments in your post (Boton, VGA cable)!

Here are the pictures I took, as well as a video of a walkthrough that a friend made.
