High Pitched Sound from Rambo?

I havent heard anyone talk about this on the forum, but my Rambo is LOUD. It makes a high pitched chirping noise. (similar to like a distant fire alarm in your home)
I have dampeners on and know its for sure not the motors, well atleast not this noise. My extruder makes a wonderful buzzing sound which I need to figure out....

Anyways, when I first turn on my machine the chirping isnt there. But as soon as I load a print with MatterControl and see the red LEDs on the Rambo begin to blink, thats when the sound comes in.
Its not necassarily loud but the pitch is veeery high and cuts through any noise in the room.

Is this normal for it to be the prominent? Is everyones like this?

(PS: if you have any good ideas to make the extruder quiet, lay it on me)

I don't know what the phenomenon is called, but electronic circuits can make high pitched noises. Kind of like the whistle noise you'll get out of a battery powered drill or the charging noise that the flash in a camera used to make... I always assumed that it was the capacitors, but I have no idea. Anyway, they make this noise, yes. But not as loudly as you're describing.

For the extruder, make sure that your drive hob isn't touching anything. It should be above the face of the motor itself, and its perimeter shouldn't touch any of the plastic covers over the arm and spring either.

Wow! Thanks for the quick reply! And now that you say that, I have definitely experienced this before. In a college course I took my freshman year we used an arduino to make an autonomous vehicle and whenever we loaded data into it and I would see the LED light flashing it made this sound. I wonder if its from taking input from the computer, maybe Ill try using the SD Card. Honestly if this is my only complaint Im a lucky guy! Haha

And the extruder is vibrating against the surrounding melamine that the extruder fits into. Do you think I could just sand down the edges of the melamine enough that it doesnt touch without hurting it structurally?

Apparently smaller surface mount ceramic caps can actually flex the PCB and make it resonate.

Interesting... I bet you the "loudness" and pitch differ per board. Even the smallest change in how the capacitor was soldered on would cause a different tune! Thanks for the links, I was always curious about that.

Kysan motors? They are pretty loud and make that noise. Lower current reduces it

How old are you?

Maybe some of us middle aged and elderly do not hear the sound.

My wife can hear high pitches much better than i can. I can repel her with one of those dog chasing gizmos.

Ask if others can hear it too.

Download an app to check your hearing. You may have superior hearing in the high frequency range.

Also try touching the rambo board to see if you can dampen its vibration.

My access points buzz when there's a lot of traffic running over them. There's no moving parts in them. Some electronics are just weird.
