CAD designer recommendations...
CAD designer recommendations...
I'm helping a friend who has a product idea and needs a CAD model drawn up. I simply don't have the time. I know there are freelancers out there and I recommended she check out Cadcrowd but they came back with a quote much higher than I thought and out of her budget. Anyone have any contacts - especially if you'v worked with them before? This is a fairly simple consumer product, hand held and about 10" long.

With the caveat that I haven't done work for injection molding (which I assume is what she wants), show her this and let me know if she's interested. If it's just for a mock-up, I might be able to do it. If needed, I can print samples on my Form 2 in whatever resin she wants.

Re: CAD designer recommendations...
If it is a injection molded part I would highly recommend Proto Labs
https://www.protolabs.com/
They have a amazing online mold quote tool that you simply upload a .stp file and get a nearly instant price quote, along with recommendations of changes to part for molding purposes if needed. Quote is even interactive, letting you tweak options and auto-magically adjust your model!

Thanks Brian, first she needs the step file! I'm looking of CAD designers who can do that for her.

Re: CAD designer recommendations...
I've done quite a bit of freelance design work as well. I'm generally pretty busy, but depending on the job I might be interested as well.
