Z probe (Z Tower) failed on sensitivity (upgrade to accelerometer)

Post by thingismith »

Please help me troubleshoot! I just wired in my accelerometer with the whip using the online guide, pretty sure everything is wired correctly. I'm getting temp sensor, my hotend gets hot, and hotend fan's working. I didn't upgrade the tower or anything else, and I'm using my e3d v6. I uploaded the firmware Repetier 0.92.2 using the Arduino 1.6.0 (per Gene's advice in another post), and made the changes offered by BruceG http://forum.seemecnc.com/viewtopic.php ... elerometer. And I changed the EXT0_TEMPSENSOR_TYPE to 8.

I run G29 in the terminal, the hotend taps twice near the x,y,z towers, but then it restarts, increasing sensitivity again and again until it crashes into the plate. Reading back, I notice an error message "Z probe (Z Tower) failed on sensitivity: 20"

Looking a little further back, I see "accelerometer i2c recv error" in the middle of the 3rd reading. Did I overlook the answer in another post?

Are you running the calibration with a cold (or at least not actively being heated) hot end?

Yeah, it's cold... I was just trying to troubleshoot when I tested it for heat. And I let it cool before resending the G29.

So many times today I wanted to quit my job, just so I could run home to my printer and figure out what's wrong with it!

I decided to compare my EEPROMs of pre- and post- Repetier 0.92.2 installation, and found a few things that were different. After a few runthroughs of testing out different settings, I think my issue had something to do with the X Max Length and Y ML... I set it from 250, 250 to 300,300 and it seems to do the trick. I think I got this issue because I didn't upgrade the frame as well.

Unfortunately, the mount I had printed to include my accelerometer to the v6 warped in my first test  , so I'm going to have to go back to the old mount and let my accelerometer swing for a little bit.
