Motors stopped working

Post by snadrus »

I built a Rostock Max v3 kit and ran 3 prints. On the 3rd, the print became disconnected from the bed and stuck on the print head. I tried to knock it off the head while it was running (to save the other parts being printed at that time), but when the metal spatula touched the print head the printer stopped working.

A small fuse had blown, so replaced it and tried another print. It warmed & increased the percentage, but the motors never moved. Not even the extruder moved. It thought it was printing, but I can freely move the belts by hand. It's also unable to home.

Replacing the other small fuse didn't help. The big fuse looks fine by eye & volt meter.

What happens when you power it up and then home it using the control panel?

Absolutely nothing physically. The display interaction hangs for a while, which is during what I suppose is it trying to move.

One of the small fuses controls the motor power. The F2 fuse is the one you need to check: http://reprap.org/wiki/File:Ramb1-2-fuses.jpg

Remove the fuse before checking it.

If that fuse is good, you may want to contact tech support - there may be an issue with the RAMBo itself.
