Hi Guys,
I have been playing around setting up my printer again after about 12 months being packed away... So far I have spent a heap of time just trying to get it to print reliably again and Im running into 2 main problems which I cant seem to iron out.
1) I seem to get a bit of oozing on at least the 3 bottom layers of my print, plus these layers always seem to be a fraction wider than the rest of the print, once its past these layers the print is perfect...
2) My stringing is horrible and I have tried a few different retraction and non print move settings.
- Prometheus V2 hotend (0.4mm)
- Bond tech QR 1.75 extruder
- 190 degree temp (Verbatim PLA) Should I try and reduce this a little? Seems a bit too molten at this temp...
- 55 bed temp
- 150mm/s non print move speed
- Retraction currently set to 3.5mm
Any help on some way to get my prints better would be great, just really want to get this stringing and blobbing under control... Not the greatest pic but the stringing is pretty evident...
Max V2 help with some basic settings....

Re: Max V2 help with some basic settings....
Lowered my temps to 175/180 and prints failed... So I think I should be pretty spot on around 185/190. Currently printing;
-185 Degrees (Verbatim PLA)
- 55 Bed temp
- 300mm/s Non print move speed
- Retraction at 3.5mm
Stringing is still pretty bad. Seems like I keep adjusting retraction then I get to a point when it retracts too far and when extrude when its meant to... Again.... Any suggestions with regards to my issues would help...

How fast are you retracting?

Off the top of my head 50mm/retraction speed.
Tonight I also just wanted to make sure that I was extruding the correct amount... So just using Mattercontrol I extruded 100mm 5 times and every time I got a different result.... by up to 40-50mm.
Just struggling with this one now...

Try using Cura 3.0 for slicing.

Re: Max V2 help with some basic settings....
I have always used Mattercontrol for all my printing/slicing and have never had a drama, I dont see why I should swap to CURA for slicing. I have tried using the SD card for printing, but my printer keeps turning itself on and off when the card is inserted.... I am yet to try some other cards as that may be the issue. I have always printed off my Mac.
I personally think that I have a hardware issue and its nothing to do with the slicing software, can anyone tell me why I would get different lengths of filament while calibrating extruder steps?
I have checked the drive gear grub screw, it is snug with no play.
I have my filament measured accurately
The Hobbed gears are clean
Any help appreciated.

MC's machine control, especially with the extruder is known to be unreliable. I'm referring to the direct-drive control, not how it shoves G-code to the printer.
