Looking for some help with my modified Rostock Max V1 not heating up past 247C
This machine has served me well and made beautiful prints in ABS never really tried PLA.
Now I want to print PETG.
The problem is the hot end won't get any hotter than 247 C, I'm trying to get it to print at 265C.
System
Rostock Max v1
Currently running Matter Control 1.6.1
Upgraded the following items
Heated bed rev.7
New arms with plastic ball joints
Plastic skaters
Corsair 650W power supply
E3Dv5 hot end
I just replaced the E3Dv5 for an E3Dv6 hot end with a ruby nozzle.
Things I tried already
Auto re-calibrated the PIDs.
Changed all the max temps in Matter Control to 265C.
I think there must be a setting in the firmware that needs to be changed, but I don't know where. Any help will be appreciated.
Upgraded E3Dv6 hot end not heating above 247C
Re: Upgraded E3Dv6 hot end not heating above 247C
Have you measured the resistance of the heater cartridge? It should be 3 to 5 ohms if it is a 12V one.
Re: Upgraded E3Dv6 hot end not heating above 247C
If they're running the original firmware, it won't permit a temp setting beyond 247 - that was the max temp for the original hot end with the PEEK barrel.

Re: Upgraded E3Dv6 hot end not heating above 247C
To understand the issue, we really need something more specific than "not heating above..."
Is it rejecting the setpoint and failing back to a 247 setpoint? Or is it accepting the setpoint and just not succeeding in reaching it?

Thanks! DC42 and Gene.
Gene I noticed you live in Graham, WA , I live on the East side of the state in Richland. I uploaded new firmware and changed the max temp setting in the config h files and now I am able to pass the 250C limit. Much appreciate the help! I should also thank you for all of your guides and reference material that you have made available to everyone over the years. I'm sure without it, I would have struggled much much more than I did building and upgrading my Rostock Max V1,
