New Linear Slide

Post by kilroyo »

Drew up a new slide , going to upgrade to 3/8" linear rods and bearings . Trying out the print, and if everything goes ok, Im gonna have to order some Blue Filament. The two different colors are the two halves

Maybe we should have a "Pimp My H-1" contest! That yellow covering on the all-thread is over the top! What is it?

Cheers,
Michael

Nice! I like that one mike. I think that's plastic wire loom, the type that has a split down one side. I have some blue for mine, just never put it on yet.

It's shrink wrap ,, since I had to take everything back apart once, I decided to add it. Real Pain, but it covers up the threaded rod great. I guess the neon lights I was going to add might be alittle overboard

Anyways the print didnt turn out the greatest ,, I got some major Y-axis issues. I think once I get those ironed out, I'll try as one complete part instead of the two halves

As long as you don't add a set of12" subs to it I think you'll be ok :p

I actually thought about adding 2 blinking LEDs to the top of the frame that would flash when the extruder was running, like you'd find on a radio tower.

On Edit:
SInce you are creating a new X axis carriage, you might want to incorporate a mechanism to mount the belts.

After taking my Y axis apart and checking everything over with a caliper, and putting it back together. I remember I still had the opto in for the Y-axis. Because without it my parts start to lean. I'll have to try it again without it later to see if I still have that issue

well one corner pulled up , Looks like my bed's not getting hot enough. Ordering some parts to fix that issue. The problem I'm trying to solve is that I can take ahold of my extruder and twist it very easliy and I have the bearings as tight as I can gte them. The issue appears on the Y axis also. So when its printing both the bed and the extruder swivels back and forth when it changes direction. Cant be good, just to much play

Kilroyo, if you are using the standard plastic bearings it is possible to get that type of play in the extruder carriage. I had this problem with the plastic bearings, I upgraded them to the r2zz bearings and it solved this issue. I just tightened the set screws down until the extruder carriage stops moving freely and then back them off a little bit. The carriage slides with a little friction but that doesn't matter because the motor and driver are so strong. I even have a hard time stopping the extruder carriage by hand.
