Calibrating Z height...

Post by oeginc »

Ok, I've just rebuilt my delta arms, carriage, pillow blocks, etc. So I need to recalibrate the home switches.

I am running the repetier host firmware.

I home everything (G28 F4444), works fine.
I come down to center (G1 Z5 F4444), works fine.
I put the paper in between and lower Z down til it touches paper, works fine.

Now here is the problem. The number that shows in Repetier is different than the number that shows on my Rostock MAX LCD panel.

Which number do I use?

P.S. I know there is more to the calibration procedure, checking Z from all 3 towers, etc. I just simplified it because my question was only with whether to use the number shown for Z in Repetier, or the number shown for Z in the firmware (which is usually an odd number, like 2.67 or 2.92, rarely 2.60 or 2.90 which seems wierd to me).

use firmware numbers.. m114 command to get the actual reading. i think the lcd display reads the firmware numbers.. not rephost numbers.

As Cambo3d said. The accurate numbers are from the firmware. Check your printer settings in Repetier Host (under the Printer Shape tab) and make sure that the printer height is the same as it is in you're firmware. Repetier host calculates your position based on the settings you give it. Home X and Home Y should both be zero. Home Z should be Max. And your printable height should match your printer height in the firmware. I'm guessing they probably don't.
Trust me, sir. I'm a wizard.
