Here is a example of the improved print quality with the carbon fiber tube arms from Trick Laser.

(top print was hotter and without fan, that is why it is fatter)

btw, I am also getting nicer prints by using a small fan beside bed, blowing over print. yes, with ABS. Also wrapped the hot-end in a bunch of kapton tape to insulate it from radiating heat onto print making it mushy.

I wish mine would hurry up and get here, it seems I have so many arm mods to experiment with these days.

Nice improvement to be sure.

And to be fair the originals don't actually "suck" but they are not nearly as nice eaither.

Can you do another print where both have the same cooling?

It would be easier to see the differences.

I own and use the chinese arms. I do like the metal balljoint ends on them, very slick and smooth. I was kinda thinking of perhaps hybriding the two products together since I am not so keen on the plastic ends, although I have not actually held them yet.

So many possible avenues for our deltas and the carriage translation.

The stock RMAX arms and upper carriage mounts have been updated since this post started. There is no sanding on carriage mounts or arms. I redesigned my production fixture for drilling the arms. The holes are gauge pin checked to +/-.0005 tolerance. The precision machined universal joints are precisely gauged in production as well.

If I understand what you are saying correctly, there is no longer any need to purchase any aftermarket arms because they would not be of any benefit any longer.

Well, I did originally put my stock arms in, and my kit is brand new, no more than 2 weeks old. There was no way those U-joints were going to spin freely in my carriage arms without a good deal of filing. By no means were mine "plug and play". The delta arms were fine, but not the carriage arms nor the effector plate. Both required filing/sanding.

What I'm saying is, the picture does not currently reflect the print quality of our machine out of the box. The arms and carriage do not require sanding. The Platform does require some sanding to fit the universal joint properly. For most people, the stock arms perform great and produce dimensional results. It will not look like the photo in the post. That is old.

Blu-Bin http://www.blu-bin.com/ stopped by our shop recently. We helped them tune up their machines. One had 800 hours on it. It was nice to see a heavily used machine with a stock setup performing. We fixed some wiring problems, updated the arms and nozzle.

Tricklaser arms are a GREAT upgrade and I still recommend them for anyone looking for that extra bit of detail in print quality.

@Toyguy I have noticed the carriage part fit can change depending how tight you fasten it to the melamine part. Also, press the locating posts on the injection molded part firmly into the melamine part, then attach.

Sounds like your up and running now, so maybe someone else will find this useful.

I'm coming up on 800 hours... What's the most print time you've seen on a machine?

After my rebuild, I have no doubt I have at least another 800 without any issues

The below cube was printed using the new arms on Orange Menace.

50 micron print layers.

The gap on the perimeter was the result of printing too cold for the material (PLA) at the speed I was printing.
