Delta arm blues?

Post by jesse »

I ordered a replacement set of arms from SeeMeCNC. The joints were all 8 mm +/- .1 mm wide.

My arms were 8 mm +/- .25 mm wide

The z-calibration piece still didn't come out any better.

Sliced with Kisslicer, .3 mm layer thickness, 2 walls, PLA from justpla.com.

You've replaced the arms... How do the U-Joints move in the brackets on the bearing carriages and on the hotend mount? If you have a mechanical issue, they're the next pieces to take a look at. I'm hoping that the seemecnc guys will start machining and selling those next. I'm also assuming that you deburred the bearing idlers, checked the pulley set-screws, checked belt tension, and have smooth cheapskate bearing movement without any slop? Also check that the 3 hotend mounting setscrews are tight and that the big hotend nut hasn't loosened itself. Do you have a burr in the aluminum t-slot that is causing a "bump" in the bearing travel?

How did the new arms' fitment feel to you compared to the ones you took off? I've been thinking about ordering a set for myself, now that they're factory toleranced. Heck, they're cheap enough :)

I dropped the speed in KISSlicer to 1,1,1 and that helped. Probably some issue with inertia.

Depending on what firmware you are using you may see a gain in lowering the jerk and/or accel settings.
