POLL -what hot-end are you running on your MAX?

Post by bvandiepenbos »

I am wondering how many are using the Steves hot-end or something else?

All of them but makergear. But I run their nozzles.

My fav so far is easily the E3D.

I'm looking forward to the Tricklaser hotend, or I might go with the E3D

I fibbed a little and picked both the E3D and Steve's. My E3D hasn't arrived yet ;)

Sorry guys,
could you re-vote please?
I added the E3D to choices, the forum appears to have lost previous votes.

Another up and coming very promising hotend, especially for the Rostock delta configuration is this hotend.....

I am currently testing it and am really liking it thus far.

I love E3d for ABS, but I have had some trouble with the E3d and PLA, so I'm using RP One Labs J-Head style with the screw in thermistor. The bottom end (nozzle/heater block) is the same as what you are testing, but the barrel is brass instead of stainless and the cool end is PEEK/PTFE. Its working great with PLA. I have Dean's plugs for the connections and I'm thinking about making another Xnaron magnetic platform so I can swap out the hot ends mounted on the platform in a minute.

Broose, if you make up another one, you might want to try the XT60 connectors instead. They're a LOT easier to get apart than the Deans.

Also, I bet if you used a fan on the E3D, you might get better PLA performance with it.

Did you create your own version of this Hotend or did you find it for sale somewhere?
If you did create your own, do you intend to provide for sale?

Thanks for the tip on the XT60's. I'll have to check them out. I am using the fan and shroud on the E3d and run it full time. Have you printed PLA on the E3d without issues? I've been thinking about taking it apart and polishing the barrel as Flateric did, to see if that makes a difference.

It will be for sale soon, extensive testing and development is underway.

Broose, I'm still using the stock hot end. I've not had any problems with it. When running PLA, you MUST use a fan on the PEEK section of the stock hot end or you'll get jams. I'm going on the assumption that a similar problem (heat creep) is occurring with your E3D.

The E3D hotend looks nice. What do you need to assemble it?
