Here is one of the things I have been working on.
The CF tube seems to glide smoothly on ball and I am thinking it should be self-lubricating.
Movement is smooth and tight with ZERO Lash. Amazing to watch. Thanks for your inspiration Berry, Xaron and all the other creative people on this forum.
I ran stretchlet and flower gcode at 500% override with no problems. Have not actually printed yet... my Steves hot-end has been giving me fits and finally clogged completely. Jamming filament inside the EZStruder. So this weekend I built mount for bowden and J-Head.
Hoping to squirt plastic Tommorow!
Maybe the EZStruder with J-Head and CF-mag>ball arms will be a magic combo??
Also trying a .35 nozzle instead of the .5

That looks great! One the cheapskate end, is that just regular aluminum angle with holes drilled to seat the balls?
Can you show us your EZStruder mount?

Thanks.ApacheXMD wrote:That looks great! One the cheapskate end, is that just regular aluminum angle with holes drilled to seat the balls?

Yes, just plain old 3/4" x 3/4" x 1/8" alum angle not holes, with dimples made for balls with ball end mill. then JB welded.
ugly, but it works for now, until I get a nicer one drawn up. Probably will be a laser cut melamine version.
The balls are 1/2" diameter not 3/8" like some others are using.... this allows enough articulation without need to mount balls at an angle. simpler. the CF tube is 3/8" diameter with 1/4" diameter magnets pressed in the ends.
attached pics of my temporary EZStruder top mount. Will do... until we get the laser cut version made up. and a top mounting spool holder. then I can eliminate the OEM glunk hanging off the side of table.

looking good, I like that aluminum jhead mount.
my thoughts on the rod ends. Might need a bigger cup on the rod ends to hug the spheres so they dont slip across.

That looks awesome. I can't wait to see it as a product.

I do hope your goal is to offer this as a kit in the future.
Very nice indeed! The aluminum hot end holder should also be an offering on your site, if possible one to fit the
E3D and your up and coming Hotend.

Have you tested this yet? Please tell us the results.
The potential can be tremendous.

Re: Carbon Fiber tube ball magnet arms and J-Head
yes, I have been printing with the magnet ball arms and the results are really good. I have had it pop apart once, but that was at a extreme speed. I just got in longer magnets, I am pretty sure that will prevent joints from coming apart.Eaglezsoar wrote:Have you tested this yet? Please tell us the results.

more testing to follow.
I have the laser cut platform designed, still working on design for laser cut mount for balls on cheapskate side.
may offer as a complete kit, not sure yet.
