limit switch brackets

Post by kilroyo »

so I thought I would add some of those small limit switches to my printer and made a bracket it for it.Just going to mount the bracket under the existending brackets for the rods. The base and holes fit perfectly, but when it goes to print the vertical part of the bracket , it turns into a big ol gooey mess. I dont know if I can have those holes in the bracket when printing vertically or not.

It's too hot.
You will have to slow it way down and add a fan to that part to get it to do what you want. There should be no problem with holes like that, but the previous layer will need a little cooling to keep the filament flowing like it should.

Like Lee said, the print is getting too hot because its so small. The layers are not getting enough time to cool before the next one is applied. Either add a fan or try slowing the print down.

BTW, what CAD software are you using?

Thanks,, I'll have to try that with the fan ..I use Alibre, I bought back when they first lowered the price down to like $100-$200. And pretty much all I use now. I havent upgraded to their newer version because they removed some import ability with the cheap version.

try printing 2 or 3 at a time. That will help cool the print between layers.

Here is an example of how I mounted mine.

I got these photo interrupters from a US surplus shop about 3 years ago, but they are basically the following ones from e-bay.

Made a few changes to the print and was able get it to sorta print with a fan , had to constant move it thou, because the back would start to droop, and I would move it to the back, then the front would droop and then move the fan to the front and so on ..

hum, never thought about printing more than one at a time, that's an idea

Dont know if I should just mount them horizontal and not even mess with it?

WVision how did you mount your switchs? ,did you just use one of the bolt holes to mount them?

Sorry been busy past few days... Just one hole to mount and the other side kinda naturally wedges against the other bolt and nut.. I had to get a 1.5" bolt to cover the extra length..

Got some Blue filament in, its darker than the seemecnc blue, but oh well. Took a photo bracket and switch installed, now just have to wire them up. I'll throw it up on thingiverse tommorrow, just incase anyone might be interested.
