Trick Laser J-Head Groove Mount for Rostock

Post by Eaglezsoar »

Trick Laser J-Head Groove Mount for Rostock Trick Laser has created a J-Head Groove mount for the Rostock and
I would like to present my first impressions of this mount.
It uses a unique approach to holding the J-Head or groove mount hot-end in place. There are 3 small arms made of high density
material that wrap around the groove and hold it tightly in place. The center hole is a nice fit to the groove mount series of hot-ends
and everything self centers perfectly. Did I mention that it is compatible with the all metal E3D but more about
that in a moment. Once the mount is assembled and the small arms are wrapped around the groove, the 3 screws are gently tightened
down putting pressure on the hot-end and locking everything in place. Remember the word gently, you snug the screws you don't use
your power screwdriver and crack the components. The Push to Connect connector is not included but is the normal 5mm thread size.
As the first picture indicates, there is a space for a 30mm fan which is optional and available on the Trick Laser site.
The cost of this mount on the Trick Laser site is $25 and IMO the convenience and anticipated durability makes the price reasonable.
These are my first impressions and pictures speak a thousand words. The pictures that follow come from the Trick Laser site.
As I've indicated, this mount will work with with the E3D hot-end and I hope to have the
pictures showing this in place in a few days. ( I have a lot on my plate in the next few days.) Now for the pictures.

Melamine and 1/8" lite ply. Looks AWESOME! I love the quick-change nature of the design.

I made some new pictures of the Trick Laser J-Groove Mount actually holding an E3D all metal hot-end.
I am not the best photographer in the world and I use an old GE camera in my shaky hands, please no snide
remarks (maybe a few if you can't help yourself) about my picture taking skills.
When looking at these pictures concentrate on how well centered the hot-end is and how well everything
fits together. As you can see, this J-Groove mount from Trick laser will hold ANY J-Groove hot-end and holds
it well.

Wow, that looks great. I just bought one the SeeMeCNC groove mount kits to see how it works with the E3D. I just got some b-day money today and I've been eyeing those arms from tricklaser, maybe I'l pick up one of those mounts too; just in case...
