I had this happen on a large print that moved the hotend out near the edge of the onyx. The fix is to put strain relief on the lead wires to the thermistor. I used small wire ties to fasten the thermistor lead to one side of the hot end resistor(up high enough to not get melted), and then another double tie to the hot end mount. I think a better solution is the screw in thermistor. I would still put strain relief on it. Better safe than sorry

You can wrap the the hotend with Kapton but I prefer to use self fusing silicone tape because it helps to secure the thermistor but it also acts as an insulator

I second that recommendation.

BTW, do we need to re-run the PID autotune when we change the way the hot end is insulated? I did, but don't remember whether the coefficients changed.

I think it is good practice to re-run autotune after insulating the hotend with the silicone tape.

I use silicon tape also, but after a month or so, its a good idea to slice it off and reapply because it does get hard and crusty with the many heat cycles the hot end goes through. At least my tape did. I got mine from amazon under the F4 brand name.

That looks like i can get it at autozone. Ive seen it before. I re RTV'd it and Im going to add the kapton over the wires instead since its just to keep the wires from moving around.

I'm sure due to the .3mm concave issue i still have, its reason my cube is a leaning. BBUUUUTT its my FIRST PRINT!FIRST PRINT!

I started printing a second cube and wanted to print on a different area of the board. So I moved the cube towards the "edge" of the "graphed board" in the Repetier window. When I started the print, it jammed itself right into the X axis bar (where I was wanting to start my print). Is there a reason why it did that? I thought I could start my print anywhere on the board once I calibrated it.
