I have been looking at stepper motor drive schemes and discovered that fewer micro steps result in more torque, and lower temperatures at a cost of less accuracy, and higher sound levels. I have not figured out how to try this theory out. Does anyone know how to switch Rambo 1.1 for double or quad steps on the extruder only?

It's true that the holding torque at a microstep is less than the toque of the motor, but the torque between full steps is unaffected. They exist mostly to smooth out the motion, rather than providing precision.
