Problem trying to move in z-axis

Post by Chandley »

So, new Rostock MAX. Got all three stepper motors working, and running G28 has them all happily walk up to my end stops and stop. So I know I can run all three motors at once and have it work. But when I go in to the manual control, and try to adjust the Z axis at all, something near my Rambo board (the board itself or maybe the motor there) makes a buzzing noise and nothing moves. X and Y move just fine. What could be causing that?

Issuing a G0 Z300 F3500 (or G1 Z100 F3500 or similar) works fine. I just cant use the manual Z-axis arrows in the Repetier-Host software. I suppose I can try to work around that, but Im curious a) why that doesnt work (when I hit echo on, it is issuing the same command I do basically: G91, G1 Z-1.00 F100, G90. When I type that in manually, works fine) and b) if this is going to affect print runs or not...

Ah, Im not quite using the same command. Turns out 100mm/minute (F100) is imperceptibly slow over the range of about 1mm... Fixed that in printer settings, all is well.
