E3D ABS jam?
E3D ABS jam?
I let the MAX go and print while I was away, and when I came back it had 5ish layers printed, and then it had stopped extruding after that. Upon further examination, I noticed I couldn't get it to extrude after I got rid of the shredded plastic in the extruder, so I manually pushed it through and this is what came out... Any guesses on what it is.... I was printing PLA the night before....
Re: E3D ABS jam?
To me the upper slightly browned threads look like burned pla to me which is what likely caused the jam.
What nozzle size are you using. Look really fine, they are easier to jam.
I am assuming the ABS you were attempting to print was blue.
I would, if I am correct with my above assumptions, believe that your nozzle was not totally clear of the previous PLA before going to the higher temp ABS and it caused the jam.
I always feed a decent amount of the new filament through my hotend when switching to anything different.
I basically, send 30mm through of the new stuff, retract 5mm, wait a minute, then another 30mm through, retract 5mm, then 50mm through.
If I am not going to print immediately I will then back the newly loaded filament out by 20mm and then feed 30mm through just before I hit the print button so it is really nice and primed and fresh and not hot filament that has been sitting in the hotend for any length of time.

Ok, that's what I thought, I'm using the default .4 one
