hard freeze

Post by EvilFz1 »

what could cause the printer to freeze in the middle of a 2.3 hr print, second time its done it to me. otherwise my rostock has been working according to my printer settings, which im honing! I haven't messed with anything besides my print settings since it started printing. it is running at 45mm at a layer thickness of .25 and .35 infill, but it slicers fine and ive printed it in other directions with other settings that weren't condusive to a good print, based on load bearing areas of the part, and the bead direction... i sure hate wasting material, specially when i don't know whats casuing this to happen, so i guess im back to stand by till i figure something out, within just a couple days, i have designed and printed a number of templates to get the front wheel spinning under electric power, and just have to print this one more adjusted part to be able to both it up for good finally! ohhh, i almost forgot what life was like before i had a printer, this last week has been really exciting, waking up to a new part that printed overnight is like Christmas everymorning, i cant get enough of it this machine! thanks in advance for any help!

sry, forgot, the pic shows the unfinished part in the foreground, and im holding the previous part to show the height that this part should have ended up. and what was printed of the part looks good, and is to spec, so im curious what causes a freeze error, and also it doesn't describe anything in my scrolling log... ok thanks again

That issue crops up sometimes with prints over an inch or two in height and is being tracked here: https://github.com/repetier/Repetier-Fi ... issues/120

It's been like this for months. There is a workaround: use a weird layer height, like .129 or .211.

Another thing to do is the ribbon cables to the LCD screen occasionally pick up noise that disrupts the board in some way. Repetier firmware seems to be a bit more susceptible to this noise. For troubleshooting you can try unplugging the LCD cables from the RAMBO if you're printing from the computer and not the SD card. If it doesn't happen again then the solution is to get a couple clip on ferrites which are inexpensive. There are a couple threads with more info on that particular issue and solution.
